Well... I'm out of a job... again.

Everyone in the office was called to a big department meeting... with the exception of me and a few others. We were called to another meeting. Yeah... I knew something was up. Nothing good ever comes from having a meeting in the "big" office while everyone else is going elsewhere.

It was cut-backs. I walked into the "big" office and there he was, the classic hatchet HR guy: Pale complexion, full black suit, close shave and black slicked hair.

Damn... just monday I was at Valis' house telling him and his friend Bob how much I liked working there.

Regarding the whole "My boss is a JW" issue... I can tell that he preemptively warned management that I may claim discrimination. During my exit interview they told me that I did a great job and was eligible for re-hire in other company departments and I would get a good reference. They also told me that I needed to go talk to someone in HR about the possibility of hiring on to another department.

The first thing I did after doing the "Box Walk" to my car was go to the HR department like was suggested in my exit interview. Oddly enough, not once, but twice the person I was talking to said: "Oh, I thought you were here about something else." Hmmmm Yeah... Brother Supervisor clearly told them that I might try to claim discrimination. I never did.

Well... if anyone knows of a company that needs an experienced Web Developer (VB, .NET, ASP, SQL)... please have them contact me.

Shitty. Sorry to hear that, Elsewhere. I've never been laid off, so I have no idea.

I hope that you find something soon. I'm sure that you will. He will give you a good reference, after all. There are better bosses out there anyways.

    David,

I'm so sorry. The last few years in the job market have really sucked. I have three bosses here and two are pretty cool. The third one is a real wanker and drives me nuts. You can work for him if you want - he's looking for a new admin.

    Love ya,

    Andi

    Sorry to hear this Elsewhere.

The comment made in HR regarding "I thought you were here about something else" really makes you wonder about what is in your file with them. Any chance that you could ask to see what (if anything) Brother Stoopervisor has written about you is contained in your file?

    Love, Scully

So sorry, this really sucks. I remember some of your posts, even if they can back this up a hundred ways, there is still more than a modicum of impropriety that needs to be accounted for and that you deserve to be compensated for. Wait 'til you have your new job. Then sue them. Check timelines in your state, there may be a really short statute of limitations, if it is handled administratively rather than in the judicial system....do have a quick chat with a lawyer so you will at least know what your options are. But wait til you have your new job. It will come fast, I'm sure of it. Shoshana

Sorry Elsewhere.. On the plus side you won't have to work in an uncomfortable situation.. hopefully you will find something fast where it is a job you enjoy without the extra hassle of feeling shunned by anyone.

Sorry to hear about that Elsewhere. Hey, if you want, you can have my job when I quit. You'll be a Electronics Technician who shovels snow.
