Even at this point there was a lot of physical abuse and emotional terrorism going on in the house.
Those smiles aren't real even though the writing on the back says the picture looks like we really are..

I really shouldn't read threads like this at work. Brings tears to my eyes. I can't help but wonder if my childhood pictures speak the way Big Tex described it.

Sometimes we wonder how correct our memory is. In the story of the book Tales of Christmas I talk about a bike and a cannon that my btother got as gifts one year. Well I haven't ever talked to him about this nor anyone else in the family. So I was quite surprised to find a picture of the two bikes and his Mighty Mo cannon.

and I have never seen this picture but think it is adorable

I am happy you found the picture, it is beautiful.

I am sad for all of you that were molested. I have to say that I really did have a wonderful childhood. Things didn't heat up for us until we were in high school. My dad was a drinker but it didn't seem to be a problem we noticed until we were older. My dad was a cop when we were young and he didn't drink every day. He was an undercover cop, so his hours were mostly after our dinner. I remember all the good times.........thats what I choose to reflect on.........the bad years are just gone, but my bad years are nothing compared to all of yours.

The style of those pictures you post, just bring back so many memories. The edge with the sculptured fringe, is the style a lot of my parents pictures are, glued to the black page with those little corner pieces.

David Yes I remember those old photo albums. They seem to be making a comeback. and melancholy? hmmmm just a whirl of various memories and feelings - some good - others not - just like real life.

I lived it - remembering isn't nearly as difficult
