Yep , What costs a billion dollars and goes thump? ---- A maritian land rover.
Sony products have been known to do that. They should have gone with a lesser known brand rover, like Mitsumi or Telefunken.

I know what happened to the rover. Jc Cannon fled to mars and he is pissed off at the rover landing in his back yard. NASA has recieved the last photo and it shows JC jumping up and down shreaking Gods name in vain. This pissed off the aliens that captured him. They thought they had him under control by kicking him off the pleades and banishing him to the earth this would stop his raving and disturbing Gods home planet and its inhabitants.
Did I spell that correctly JC? He caused so much of a ruckus there that he was sent to earth. God thought that this was a good way to uproot and confuse the wbts who was distorting Gods messages and confusing the earthlings.JC became so frustated with all the apostates that he fled the earth and went to mars.
Outoftheorg THIS IS ALL TRUE, TRUST ME!

Well when I was working on Beagle 2, the British Mars lander, and accidently loaded a program onto it called "Robot Wars".
While all the scientists thought Beagle wasn't responding, it was making it's way over to the Gusev crater to do battle with Spirit's Rover.
Something has gone drastically wrong though, and on my web cam link I can see Beagle has mounted Spirit and thrust it's RS232 connector
straight into the back of it. I will continue with further developements as I receive them.

Why is it that there are always problems with rovers on Mars?

Because it's a very hard thing to do.

Also, on average, it takes 4 minutes for transmissions from earth to reach mars, then 4 more minutes for the reply. So even if you knew the rover was about to fall of a cliff or run into a big rock, it's 8 minutes before a correction is made, so I imagine they try to make them as self reliant as possible which would be very difficult when you dont know exactly what it will encounter.
