Thanks Chester, that was just what I wanted.
Undercover said, in that thread:
That was apparent at the DC this year. The part on "Beware the Voice of Strangers" was heavy handed indeed.
There were three distinctive areas that they covered:
1. Do not listen to any dissention or negative talk about the WTS. If it does not build up, it is not worth consideration.
2. The internet is evil, evil, evil. Sites are created just to lure people away from the "truth" and organization. Lies and smear campaigns litter it to create doubt and confustion. Flee from it.
3. Do not trust the media. The media is full of half-truths, misqoutes and outright misrepresentations.
It occured to me that many Brits will have actually been "stumbled" by this warning against strangers. The reason being that a warning against strangers is recognised here as the last desperate throw of a government that has been backed up against a wall.
In the House of Commons in London, the cry "I spy strangers" is a cowardly cop-out to buy time when a debate or motion is going against, usually anyway, the government in power. The House immediately interrupts it's proceedings to debate whether or not spectators - the "Strangers" - should be removed from the public gallery. Shouting "I spy strangers" has actually been used to stop a vote taking place within the required time-span so rendering the vote void. It's the last desperate throw of a desperate politician and my bet is that many UK JW's will have made the connection.
