Why did Jehovah`s Witnesses settle on the pronunciation of God`s name as Jehovah ?

They admit that the four consanants can either be JHVH or YHWH and since their is no J sounding letter in the Hebrew language why wouldn`t they have settled on the more appropriate name for God as Yahweh ?

"Why did Jehovah`s Witnesses settle on the pronunciation of God`s name as Jehovah ?"

They didn't settle on it. That is what God's name is in English. He gave it to Hebrew speaking people in the Hebrew language as Yahveh. But to English speaking people he gave it as Jehovah.

NBD - Jehovah's chariot is on the move I guess right?

I suppose something needed to move. It looks like the 'Pale Horse(tm)' threw a shoe and fell over when Covid (The pestilence to end all pestilences), fizzled out and prevented Armageddon(tm) happening any time soon.

I didn't know they had any online lessons, so I guess I am not going to miss it.

If you have Aid to Bible Understanding pages 586 or page 587 it explains in detail how they came up with ''Jehovah''. By inserting the vowels from ''adonai'' and ''elohim'' and latinizing the tetragramatron JHWH from YHWH.

In other words no on really knows the pronounciation. Is what they're saying.

Clearly the Governing Body didn't want independent study, as it doesn't connect a person to the Organization like the effect of having a tutor.
