    Hi Nina,

I am sure glad that your weekend went well for your sake. Who knows, maybe you "planted another seed."

Your encounter with these friends shows that there are some good people among JWs, folks with the best of intentions. Eventually, many of the good ones will be "given enough grief" to leave on their own, just like you and I did.

    Warm regards,

    Sam

I hope we did indeed plant a seed -- they are very dear, like family to us. We had a blast! My law firm was kind enough to give me 4 tickets to the Stars game on Friday night, which was a first for all four of us (we left Jess at home with a couple of friends and the kids, and a baked ham to keep them all company). The guys (elder, SIL, Chris) and I had a wonderful time considering we didn't know much about hockey. The seats were Platinum and we actually had a waitress (called a concierge so you'd tip her more) in our area to take our orders for food! I guess that was to make up for the fact that a glass of merlot cost $8. It was lots of fun. They got to see typical Texas winter weather too: it was sunny and cool on Friday, rained buckets on Saturday, went up to 74 on Sunday, and temperatures plummeted with a cold north wind on Monday. I'll bet they'll be talking about that for a while! Saturday Jackson was sick so I stayed home with him while the rest of the gang took in the Sixth Floor Museum and argued vigorously for and against the lone gunman shooting John F. Kennedy. Sunday we went to the Hotel Intercontinental for a decadent Sunday brunch, and today on the way to the airport we introduced them to sake bombs and sushi. I thought they were very brave! Only the elder would try the sake bomb and the raw fish, but pronounced both very good (I think he liked the sake bomb better, though).

Now if the elder's wife had just come my weekend would have been complete! She's one of my best friends and very vocal in her disapproval of elders and the Society in general. I like her A LOT! Well, there's always next time, and now I know there will be a next time!

I am so glad you had a great time with your friends. I miss my friends from England. I have moved and no longer have the same phone number but I know if I contacted them and they knew I was df'd, they'd not speak to me.

So happy to hear you still have your friends....

Some do have a mind of their own....You are one of the few, that do get to keep their freinds after leaving the jws....

ahhh Nina. I can imagine what you were feeling in anticipation of their visit and so glad that it turned out to be a pleasant one. If only more people who are JWs would be so loving as your friends were to you. Indeed they are very special.. I am so happy for you and your family!

Of course, I didn't see fit to mention birthday celebrations and Christmas trees . . . Maybe another time . . .
