Jw's don't have the truth either, look on jwfacts.com

I hope getting that out made you feel better.

For me it read like a lot of different beliefs crisscrossing one another.

There is love here, but very very little tolerance or a stamp of approval for studying with jws.

You make a good point about the sabbath day being important still. A number of years ago I went along on an RV of this lady. Her house holder was a guy who happened to be an SDA. He argued that all 9 of the 10 commandments are still observed by Christians, why not the sabbath. I said that was a good point when the sister allowed me to interject. I was actually getting on his side to support his belief. I actually turned the topic upside down on the technicalities of the sabbath day.

The sabbath was God's rest day and the USA promotes a 2 day rest period for it's populous. I told him if we don't get a mental rest day between the weeks our brains turn to mush. He never thought God needed to rest when Genesis mentioned him resting on the seventh creative day. The point I was driving to him was that the sabbath was still in practice because it was a rest day for mind and body. Jesus said you could break it as long as you had extenuating circumstances. An employer that makes you work seven days in a crunch was one of them.

The other 9 commandments were straight forward but Jesus said the sabbath one could be more flexible.

    Hi mother Teresa

You take Moses as a historical person because you follow the crowd. If your make an objective reading of first 5 books you will find many reasons to change your beliefs.

You also believe in the second advent of Jesus which the Bible said would happen in the generation of Bible writers themselves: "These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us, on whom the culmination of the ages has come" (1Cor 10:11)

In fact, this world has no problem, hence no need of ending it. What is really happening is that once this world was new with all the species now extinct, and now this world has become old, just like any tree becoming old in time. Becoming old is not a problem, but is a natural process meant for everything we know. Just like seed-tree-seed mechanism works eternally, the present old world would also become new not in the manner Scriptures describe; but the Supreme Seed, God Almighty would do it in His own way and in His own time. And because He is the Father of all mankind, He will do a perfect and just job giving no reason for anybody to feel unhappy.

    What is the guarantee?

look at your own body, it is a living body. What is life? "Life is the principle of self-renewal, it is constantly renewing and remaking and changing." (Boris Pasternak)

If this can happen to our body, the same can happen to the earth, our mother or home whatever you may call it.

A very lengthy post which appears to indicate you feel "connected" with JW's on different levels.

As a POMO formerly zealous JW, I can now state with 100% certainty that the WTBTS is anything but the "true religion." It is a truly disgusting business corporation masquerading as "God's faithful slave."

If you require Biblical evidence (as opposed to literature proofs) which I believe show how lying & deceitful many of their teachings are, just PM me and I'll provide you with 14 Bible v literature statements for you to critically analyse.

If your faith is truly in the scriptures, then you'll avoid JW's like the plague.

I do want to encourage you to continue doing research with an open mind.

Personally, my spiritual journey and research has led me to believe that there is no such thing as a true religion.

It seems like you have a strong desire to belong to a religion. Ask yourself, why? Why do you feel the need to belong when all you need is Jesus in your life?

I know you may feel like you need to make a choice now but it's best to take it slow. Sometimes we cling to religion because of a sense of codependency. Analyze yourself and see why.

I suggest you read The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse and Combating Cult Mind Control. You seem like the perfect target for an abuser.

You do have a lot of insight and I think it's great you're thinking about your beliefs.

For a while, because of conflicts in the teaching material from which I was reading, I almost totally quit reading the Bible and praying

My advice is go back to doing that. You'll notice that your hopes and wishes are granted at about the same frequency. Even more so if you actually take action and work toward your goals.

    Mother Teresa,

Welcome! I wouldn't worry too much about the Man of Lawlesslessness, Writer with the Secretary's Inkhorn, following the Sabbath or dietary restrictions in the OT..... unless you just want to. Maybe just try to relax?

I'd spend the time wasted to look for a referral to a good doctor.
