Flip-flop-flip contradictions. Any other religions you know of guilty of these?

Jehovah's Witnesses are loaded with them, from resurrection of the sodomites, the superior authorities, transplants of human organs, oral sex between married couples, etc etc.

I've been trying to think of other Christian religions with contradictions, especially flip-flop flip contradictions with a return to the original Doctrine.

    Please help me out here.

According to this article the Catholic Church had a flip-flop on their abortion doctrine. At one time the Catholic Church condoned abortions.

    Mormons:

    plural marriage/no plural marriage

    no black priests/black priests

baptise Holocaust victims/don’t baptise Holocaust victims

    no ecumenism/ecumenism

don’t accept children of gay couples/accept children

book of Abraham provenance and meaning

missionaries not allowed smart phones/now allowed smart phones

    sunday meeting times reduced

age and gender adjustments on missionary assignments

Probably a lot more, these are just a few I am aware of.

Edit: sorry those are just changes, not flip flops. I should have read more carefully!

Thanks Atlantis and Slim. I wasn't aware of any of those short of Mormon plural marriages. Of interest, Mormons abandoned their practice in 1897. JWs, 50 years later in 1947.

Yes, the flip flop flips are probably going to be hard to find.

So far as we know Watchtower has to be awarded the Blue Ribbon .

Yes, the Watchtower takes the Macallan Award on doctrinal flip-flops by far. The scholar of "CAN'T MAKE UP MY MIND" Royal Crown Blue Ribbon!

The writer of the article about Protestants seems to assume that Luther spoke / still speaks for all Protestants as if he was a Prostestant pope . His thoughts were quite influential yes , but not definitive in the church . There would have been many at the time who did not agree with all his musings and now he rarely gets mentioned . So there was no flip flop there , his thoughts on contraception would not have been held as binding for everyone .
