    Here are five lines of evidence to prove the existence of God.

    • The existence of an orderly universe containing life points to a Creator. The Bible says: “Of course, every house is constructed by someone, but the one who constructed all things is God.” (Hebrews 3:4) Although this logic is simple, many well-educated people find it to be powerful. *

    • As humans, we have an innate desire to understand the meaning and purpose of life, a type of hunger that can remain after our physical needs have been met. This is part of what the Bible calls our “spiritual need,” which includes the desire to know and worship God. (Matthew 5:3; Revelation 4:11) This spiritual need not only gives evidence that God exists but also indicates that he is a loving Creator who wants us to satisfy that need.—Matthew 4:4.

    • Detailed prophecies in the Bible were written centuries ahead of time and came true exactly as predicted. The accuracy and detail of those predictions strongly suggest that they came from a superhuman source.—2 Peter 1:21.

    • Planet Earth as seen from space

      Bible writers had scientific knowledge that was beyond the understanding of their contemporaries. For example, in ancient times many peoples believed that the earth was supported by an animal, such as an elephant, a boar, or an ox. In contrast, the Bible says that God is “suspending the earth upon nothing.” (Job 26:7) Similarly, the Bible correctly describes the shape of the earth as a “sphere,” or “globe.” (Isaiah 40:22, footnote; Douay Version) Many people feel that the most reasonable explanation for such advanced understanding is that Bible writers received their information from God.

    • The Bible answers many difficult questions, the type of questions that when not satisfactorily answered can lead a person to atheism. For example: If God is loving and all-powerful, why is there suffering and evil in the world? Why is religion so often an influence for bad rather than for good?—Titus 1:16.

    Indeed, the Bible does "answer" these questions. But that it provides answers to these questions does not prove its answers are correct. A 3rd century religion called Manichaeism similarly claimed to provide "answers" to such questions: God allows suffering in order to free imprisoned light trapped in darkness via an elaborate cosmic plan, and religion is a force for bad because the previous prophets (Jesus, the Buddha, Zoroaster) never wrote down their own teaching.

    Why don't you believe in Manichaeism? It provides answers too!

    Jesus H. Christ! Trotting out that sad bunch of hooey claiming that the Bible must have been inspired by God or how else would the writer know that the earth was a circle, blah blah blah.

    Your organization is so friggin' Eurocentric in its thinking. They really believe that Galileo was the first to discover that the earth was round? There are so many ancient civilizations that were highly advanced in their knowledge of time and space before they went into decline or were destroyed. For all we know, there were just as many peoples who believed in a solar system as there were believing that the globe was being carried around by a turtle.

    The lack of critical thinking ability on the part of the JWs is astounding. But, then, that's exactly why we were practically forbidden to get a university education. "Keep 'em stupid."

    Try to evaluate the comments here in context of the needless deaths caused by the JW faith. Over the years, your religion has forbidden everything from simple post-exposure vaccines to organ transplants.

    Those positions have all been reversed without a word of apology to anyone.

    The heart condition reflected in your posts is one of callous disregard for that.

    Actually, it doesn't. Isaiah uses the Hebrew word Chug to describe the Earth - which means circle - a flat two dimensional object. Had Isaiah wished to describe the Earth as a sphere he would have used the Hebrew word Dur (see Isaiah 22:18) which means sphere or globe.

    The Bible also says the Earth is supported by pillars (I Samuel 2:8, Job 9:6, and Psalm 75:3). As well as claiming that the Earth has a "chief cornerstone" and "four corners" (Job 38:6, Isaiah 11:12, and Revelation 7:1).

    It doesn't go unnoticed that you've cherry picked the scriptures you think are supported by modern science while ignoring all the scriptures that blatantly contradicted science. We have a term for people who engage in this sort of rhetoric - we call them dishonest.
