C’mon Syd,
Just admit you are a materialist. Are you ashamed of it? Lots of people “claim” to be materialists.
On the contrary, I grew up in a home that was apparently haunted. We had ghosts and apparitions and poltergeists and demons and goblins and trolls and ghoulies and vampires and witches and warlocks and elves and dwarves and sprites and banshees and fairies and centaur's and gnomes and siren's and leprechauns!
I have no idea why so many thumbs down. I have been reading here for years and this has been covered. This is accurate stuff that was said years ago.
When I was growing up in the 60's 70's there were always stories of demons. My mom's dad seeing foggy figures in the basement because God would not let them fully materialize anymore.
Buying things at garage sales could bring the demons into your home.
My mom insisted we had demons twice and had to get rid of things. There was knocking on the walls , demons ! It was more so in the earlier days as we go back in time. Back in the late 1800's it's no surprise to me that they would be even crazier.. I don't come here often so really don't fully know his ideas. Just my opinion. I never leave the house on New Year's Eve ! 11:22 pm here.
When i was a kid in the 1980s,, I was so terrified of demons. That I dreaded going to bed at night when I was 12 or 13. I was so relieved when morning always came. All the time.
When I heard the furnace ducting rattling as the furnace turned off,,, Id experience heart palpitations & I would pull the bed sheets over my head.....I would leave a light on nearby overnight.
Now,,,I sleep soundly,,, without any light on......

Here is an excerpt talk by C.J. Woodworth, given in 1913, where he admits to be demon possessed.
Well if he said it, it must be true. I’m sure he gave compelling evidence about the specific operation of demonic possession or that demons exist at all, and it wasn’t just a convenient method of dismissing ‘old light’.
There was a time for five consecutive nights when I never slept a wink; then came a time when the strain was too much; my mind became unbalanced
Five nights without sleep could very well result in hallucinations or distorted thinking. It wouldn’t take much for an already superstitious mind to chalk this up to ‘demons’ or other nonsense. Assuming any part of the anecdote is true, it is wholly unremarkable.
Old building with creaky walls? Demons.
Flickering light bulbs? Demons.
Computer keeps freezing up? Deeemonnns.
In 2019 the WTS said this finally, since so many jws are so obsessed with demon influence and sharing sensational stories about their experiences. “ Notice below the ways the WTS has spread stories about demons.
Avoid telling stories about the demons. In this regard, we want to imitate the example set by Jesus. (1 Pet. 2:21) Before he came to earth, Jesus lived in heaven, and he knew a lot about Satan and the demons. But he did not relate stories about what those wicked spirits had done. Jesus wanted to be a witness of Jehovah, not a publicity agent for Satan. We can imitate Jesus by not spreading stories about the demons”

Jehovah's Witnesses are discouraged from yoga, being told that it opens a person to demon attacks and is a form of Hindu worship.
YES - w63 3/15 p. 187 Resisting Wicked Spirit Forces One of the most common ways demons both ensnare and harass persons is by "voices." The invisible voices pretend to be departed relatives or good spirits, spirits sent from God. But this is falsehood, deception! No matter what the "voices" claim to be, they are wicked spirits
Jehovah's Witnesses may warn their prospective convert that once they begin regular Bible studies with the Witnesses demons may attack them. When any negative event follows, such as a family member warning them to beware of the JW's, this is interpretted as demonic attack and confirmation of the validity of the JW's message
In these wicked days of the “time of the end” the demons appear to be intensifying their attacks against Christians and against those who are just beginning to learn God’s truth. w63 3/15 pp. 186-190 - The Watchtower—1963
The daughter was a very sick woman who suffered as many as thirty attacks of epilepsy each week and had spent all her savings on trying to find a remedy, but with no success. The alert publisher carefully explained the source of these problems, using many texts and illustrations to show that they were under attack of the demons.

Satan and his demons continue to afflict people in various ways, as they did in Bible times. Some who are now genuine Christians were at one time involved with the occult; they can testify to the horrors of demon attacks.

While not all persons afflicted with madness or insanity are possessed by the demons, logically persons possessed by the demons may be expected to manifest an unbalanced mental state.
Then there is the young woman who experimented with a Ouija board and developed an obsession with the past. She believed she was in love with a man who had died 300 years earlier. She kept trying to make contact with him. Her mania finally led her to commit suicide by laying down on a railway track. Police investigating the case found diaries indicating she wanted to die so as to join her beloved.
Even if you have not practiced spiritism, get rid of anything having spiritistic uses or overtones. This includes books, magazines, videos, posters, musical recordings, and objects used for spiritistic purposes.
While magic, demons , the devil, etc are all very real, the religion of JWs are not devil worshipers. All Christian religions, including JWs, acknowledge and actively delineate the 'devil' ad nauseum... whereas the true occult religion vehemently denies the existence of God. There is no in between.
