I am better off than I was 4 years ago.

If all you base your decision on is yourself, then why should we care about what you think ?

Isn't the only question that matters
Are most Americans better off than they were 4 years ago ?

I'll vote for anybody that says they'll stop the unfair 'free' trade agreements

Anybody is better than the big business puppet, George Bush

In the long run, the only one that I can speak for sure about me is me. So with MY perception of MY situation and MY view of the candidates and their good points and bad. I make MY choice accordingly. One man one vote and all. For anyone to believe that any politician has the betterment of the "common folk" in his plans, well they need a reality check.
Is Bush catering to the BIG BUSSINES? Probably. I have seen in my short lifetime that when BIG BUSSINESS is thriving, John Q Public is usually working. The Liberals would rather fund a welfare state that encourages lazyness.Ever been to Massachusetts? Its a friggin wreck. They don't call it "Taxachusetts" for nothing.

Free trade agreement? If some one wants to buy American, more power to them. Sometimes though financial restrictions make the old "made in some third world $#!% hole" stamp attractive.

I will say this though, with the response to my posts, I don't think I'll be throwing my hat into the political ring any time soon. I'm holding out for "God Emperor" ;)

As Tony Blair and George Bush continue to make a mockery of their nations, we should remember that these leaders are at fault for promoting anti U.S and anti U.K agenda's, and not the citizens of that country.
Sneaky....you should also remember that not all of the citizens of the US are at fault for the foreign policy our government promotes.

In your opinion they make a mockery, in the opinion of the majority of the US, Bush is doing the right thing. I'm once again proud of our president, for eight years I wasn't. Blair is one hell of a stand up guy too, which just goes to show you, not all liberals are bad.

    Thunder Rider,

Is Bush catering to the BIG BUSSINES? Probably. I have seen in my short lifetime that when BIG BUSSINESS is thriving, John Q Public is usually working.

You're talking about the past. In the past, I would have agreed with you. If we could have voted as BOrg drones, I would have voted solid Republican. I viewed Big Business as the engine of capitalism. I didn't think trickledown economics was such a bad idea. If you give an opportunity to the rich to invest in something that makes sense, with a good return, they drive the economy with their actions and everybody benefits

But now we have FREE trade. Now we have Enron Worldcom type company execs that care about nothing but the bottom line. They are just like Homer's boss on the 'Simpsons'

    FREE trade agreements changed everything

When BIG BUSINESS thrives, now they look to Mexico and 50 cent a day workers and look for more and more and more money for their golden parachutes

John Q Public WAS usually working. Now his job has moved to Mexico ...
    ... and it ain't comin back !

I hope welfare is still around when all of the jobs are gone, because I'm gonna need it
I was laid off on Sept 19, 2001 and sent out HUNDREDS of resume's over a period of a year and a half

    NOTHING !
And I wasn't in manufacturing. I have 8 years of training plus my years of experience in various parts of the electrical trade installing electrical distribution systems from huge factories to single houses

The only reason unemployment figures aren't going up every month is because people reach the end of the line in the system and are turned away. I remember the day that I got the letter saying that my last unemployment extension had run out and I was on my own. After that month Bush got to claim me as a victory because I wasn't showing up on the unemployed rolls anymore

Free trade agreement? If some one wants to buy American, more power to them. Sometimes though financial restrictions make the old "made in some third world $#!% hole" stamp attractive.

    Financial restrictions ?

It's free trade now ! You VS the 50 cent a day Mexican worker. Where do you think the factory is going to be ?
BUT its not those destitute Mexicans that are buying the goods coming out of those factories, it's USA citizens doing the buying

And for how long ? How long will it take the greed of corporate America to strip the jobs from this country until the money to buy their cheep goods dries up ?

Then you still are manufacturing cheep goods but whose going to buy them ?

I guess that's when the golden parachute comes in the most handy !

Ah, who could want more to lively-up politics than the 2004 WWWF Campionships Presidental Race.

With the launch of commisons to investigate the claims made regarding WoMD on both sides of the Atlantic, I am waiting for the USA to blame UK intelligence and the UK to blame US intelligence; that would make my joy complete...

    ... oh, and now the US President and UK Prime Minister have launched commision because no WoMD have been found or are likely to be found, can us pinko commie Europeans would like to say;

    WE TOLD YOU SO!

... make that factualy correct pinko-commie Europeans... and yes, I know that members of the cult of American Republicanism have swallowed the new light from the White House hook-line-and-sinker, and actually believe the USA went in publically stating their first concerns were human rights... but the credulous and their opinions are never easily seperated, and why bother?

What I and many others have been saying is pretty much vindicated; that either government officials lied, or they were incompetent in their assesment of threat. In either case voting for those in power during that debacle would seem to be in the "well, you screwed me once, and I kind liked it, so please screw me again" catagory.

    Yeru:

I also have a significant number of friends in abroad, before the US was viewed as an arrogant greedy hypocritical wimp. We'll do better being seen as a country that doesn't take shit.

Is abroad a country like Africa? I don't see how one can live in abroad. What is it with American Republicans and language refering to the rest of the world?

As for your suggestion that it is better to appear a arrogant greedy hypocritical country that doesn't take shit than a arrogant greedy hypocritical wimp country, well, it made me laugh but I don't think it's something to base foreign policy on. If anything the accusations of greed and arrogance have grown during the reign of George II.

Again, it's simple; the US and UK governments sold their voters a crock of shit, vastly exagerating the risk to the USA and UK so as to garner enough support to launch an invasion of Iraq, as if they had tried to make it for other reasons, like human rights or vauge threats of problems, then they wouldn't have got enough public backing to go ahead.

The invasion has had beneficial results; human rights now have a hope in the future of Iraq. Several countries are now being far more cautious in their attitude; Lybia has basically rolled over, blown the gaff on North Korean arms proliferation, and the North Koreans, although being an utterly mad dictatorship that makes very bold public statements, are allowing access to their nuclear facilities. Pakistan has also had their gaff well-and-truely blown. Gain, gain, gain, gain in terms of geopolitical safety.

But the loss loss has been that of respect and trust for the governments of the USA and the UK, who were either deceitful, or incompetetant. The very actions they have undertaken that increase the safety of other countries has, because it was undertaken on a pretext, resulted in a loss of faith.

John Kerry? It seems that the people who don't want Bushy back in want a candidate with lots of support. Kerry is winning because he started out winning, there's at least two better Democratic candidates but Kerry has the vox populi and that's what's attracting all the support. The last thing the Democrats want is to have a more marginal candidate squeak through and end up losing to Bush by a small margin.

    Abaddon,

    You quasi-Marxist, materialist Euro-trash commie....

As for your suggestion that it is better to appear a arrogant greedy

I believe that should be "an arrogant greedy..." Hehehehehe. It's not often I get to correct your grammer and I take it like squirrels to a nut.

(I agree with your take on the matter completely, though)

    Damn! AN appalling lapse?

I'm waiting for the standard amusing selection of knee jerk reations from the Republican Apologist Collective...

I mean, first of all they followed the "WoMD WILL be found" line. Now they're following the 'we invaded for humanitarian reasons' line. None seem to be willing to accept they've been made fools of (by Geroge II, not the Euro-pinko-commie-crew), and in not accepting it and trying to spin things just appear more misguided...

Cat? Pigeons? What could possibly go wrong?
