Dear Randy,
Thank you so much for your site of objective, non-biased truth. It's
something I have done without for almost 30 years.
I was appalled to see that the Society owns half of a defense manufacturer!
I wouldn't expect to be so enraged over this, but in July of last year, I
was "disassociated" for not resigning from membership in the US Coast Guard
Auxiliary.
I was raised as the only son of a career US Air Force sergeant. I had been
seduced by the Organization as a teenager, and looking back on it, it was
mainly a way to rebel against my folks and what they stood for. In the later
years, I saw that the things they stood for were right and honorable, and
that the Watchtower was just plain wrong.
Always enamored of the sea and things nautical, I joined the US Coast Guard
Auxiliary, but not until I had researched them carefully. They are a
civilian, non-military organization designed to support the US Coast Guard's
recreational boating courses, boat safety inspections, search and rescue
efforts, and other missions. They consist mainly of retired folks, and are a
great bunch of people. I figured I could reasonably join this organization
as a Witness, because none of the objectionable features (flag salute, etc.)
were mandatory, and you don't have to swear any allegiance to the flag or
other entity. Also, at the time, it was part of the Department of
Transportation - certainly not militaristic, as far as I was concerned!
Ten years later exactly, I was told that it was "too worldly", and that I
had to resign. I declined, and was promptly disassociated. My take on it
after a few months? I'm glad it happened. The "Brothers" are kidding
themselves, and are a mind-control organization. I want no part of them, and
I hate the fact that my sick, mentally ill wife (who was abused as a Witness
child back in the fifties) is still misled by them.
Randy, thanks again for your site. It is an eye-opening experience!

Doubtfully Yours
This man will surely find more camaraderie, good will, and truthfulnessamong CG Auxilary members than in the WTBTS.
It's quite the blessing in disguise.

Their hypocrisy still amazes me. They can belong to the UN, have stock in a defense company, issue military cards to some brothers while others in Malawi perish, and then they have the balls to do this?

He should've been an auxiliary pioneer.

The local police department is more likely to be "worldly" by "packing" than all the CG units in the country combined. Any prohibition on being a policeman and being a dubby?

This "experience" sits at odds with the Borg's claim to be people who take seriously their responsibilities in the community. So much for charity! So much for the "widows and orphans" (James 1:27)

One wonders what they would say if the Coast Guard was not a governmental entity. I guess this also means you couldn't be a volunteer fire fighter...so much for love thy neighbor.
Sincerely,

It is pathetic they disassociate someone who does comunity service - like the author of that letter. What is wrong with volunteering your time for boating lessons and/or rescue support?
I am appaled as the WT is a registered "charitable" organization, but when you investigate where the money is channeled, you'll see they always give that money to themselves, not to real charities.
Too bad it took so many years and this painful experience to open his eyes.

Many years ago, Mrs Ozzie was also 'heavied' for collecting relief funds for the Red Cross Appeal.
What the WTS claims about itself being community-minded just isn't true.......but many are still seduced by them.

That's why I didn't join the Civil Air Patrol.
