Who remembers it or worse, suffered from it?
Does anyone remember the WT issue the GB reversed themselves in? The CD Rom doesn't show it.

I forget the specifics of their defining it. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to it until they reversed themselves (mid 80's I think). The statement that burned in my mind from the end of WT article was '...whatever circumstance the individual is now in, let him remain in it.' This was in response to having a stricter interpretation toward porniea, DF'ing and divorce. I remember reading it and going into a near rage because people had been df'd and divorced w/o just cause. They're retraction and the sanctioning of people 'remaining' where they were opened my eyes to how 'spirit directed' they weren't!

They never reverse themselves. They always have a 'better' explanation as the light gets brighter.
In laymans terms; They always weasel themselves out of a 'sticky' situation. ( that's almost a pun huh?)

Re: The Porneia debacle of the 80's
Now come on everybody it was not a debacle-- it was just the light getting brighter and brighter -- but as I like sex with the light on --what actually happened was the electric light bulb failed and then it was replaced by a larger wattage light bulb and then the light got brighter and brighter again

I am still trying to figure out how, if they are the spirit-directed and blessed mouthpiece of God on Earth, how the doctrine keeps going back and forth. You'd figure they'd get it right the first time, since they are "spirit-directed." Supposedly, God doesn't lie.

Just another example of the WTC "going beyond the things written", one of the primary reasons i left.
They just DON"T get it- There are RULES/LAWS in the NT, and then there are principles, prophecies, etc.
RULES/LAWS need NO interpretation,
As for principles, prophecies, etc, each Bible Student has the potential to interpret these differently.
The WTC attempts to seat itself as God and Mediator, becoming the Anti-Christ and Man of Lawlessness, like every other religion, by stating that if members disagree, on Biblical grounds, with "their interpretation", that ioone is an Apostate. Nothing could be further from the truth. The WTC are the Apostates, because they go beyond what is written", breaking God's LAW.
