No it wasn't a spin-off. But I don't use the word "friend" very loosely either. I have few friends and many acquaintances. There were people in that class I had considered friends, but it was a casual acquaintance that helped me that day. It just irritates me that we put so many conditions on being the modern Samaritan. "Yeah, I'll help you IF..."

I was reminded of this thread last night. My Knights of Columbus Council held an Appreciation Night for the Altar Servers. We contracted a magician to come in for the entertainment portion (and he did it for free, God Bless him)...anyhow...He kept saying "I need someone to..." and he'd hestitate, but even before he completed "I need someone..." all the kids had their hand up volunteering....I kept thinking...gosh...what if he says he needs someone to drink a bottle of hot sauce (and some of the kids would). His last two pieces were actually pretty good. I've done some magic and know how some of the gags work...but the last one had me scratching my head. Still...those kids were volunteering before they knew what it was that would be asked of them.
