I'm not sure about Luke, but I couldn't bear those dirges.
I always felt like there was something wrong with me because the songs were like finger nails on a blackboard to me.
I never understood why worship songs were such utter sh1t.

I don't think anybody Luked molested bees.
Nah, the Devil has the best tunes. I always preferred Jerusalem, but not so much now.
None were any good, though I did associate a few of them with that first Grand Boasting Session. Then again, I now have access to some real music such as Billy Idol's Plastic Jesus and the catalog of Led Zeppelin, especially Led Zeppelin IV.
I converted to JW's from the Baptist Church, so loved singing.
As a result, I came to Luke almost all the songs - even to the point of memorizing them.
44 years later, I still find myself humming the words.
Not by themselves..... but there was something uplifting about standing at the top of the stands and belting out "We Thank You Jehovah" at Twickenham ( London) in a big crowd at the close of a large convention. It was anthemic, I guess.
Ours is the God of true propheseeeee
what he foretells comes to be
Shulamite maiden. We played that at my wedding when my wife came down the ailse.
Were Jehovahs witnesses was catchy.

After 30 years that's all I can think of.
Oh my god, remember the song that began dark and dirgy then light and happy...?
“DARK DAYS ARE HERE! MAN LIVES IN FEAR! In dire expectation....”
”... but the bible holds out a hope for the dead! ... tra la la la de boop and true peace there will be...”
I, too, used to like Make The Truth Your Own - I still think it's a nice song.

That song was a great steaming pile of horseshit.
" ... something something vicious slander
in sin's ways meander.
Blindly they grope
having no hope.
Wickedness is all around.
But the bible holds out a hope for the dead ..."
F**k me that song was awful ...
