The river seems a bit distant, but there appears to be a slough nearby....

Wow! I've never been there, jgnat. Is Saskatoon nice? Isn't it the Athabasca that flows through there, or the North Saskatchewan?

I bet that Saskatoon is really lush, isn't it? If it's marshy and all... I've only seen Sask. once, I was eight, and we listened to AbbA all the way there, and all the way home on a "ghetto blaster" with my grandma and my mom. I was pretty small but it seemed really really flat. I don't remember going through any cities whatsoever. In fact, I don't even remember Manitoba.

Just Lake Of the Woods and my 2nd uncle's house. It was beautiful, albeit rustic.

    Yes, wood shingles....

I got your NEW shopping list. For what you want, a slightly higher price. For 79,900 you can have 200 acres of pristine wilderness, two waterfalls...

Shamus - lush???? Try FLAT. The South Saskatchewan and North Saskatchewan rivers meet north of Cudworth. I had to check on a map to be sure.

    Ridulous, bloomin ridiculous. Nuts, bonkers.

    $8000 Canadian Dollars = £3,178 & 12 pence.

If that property were here, it would go for a minimum of £190,000 or Canadian Dollars $478,000 + !!

If there are similar opportunities, let me know, I'm coming over.

Alas, the lot is only 50' x 140', a postage stamp!

You could find a respectable 50 acres for about $15-20,000 here in Nova Scotia! Lots of nice hippie folk to help you build as well. And we have our own highlands - you'd feel right at home.

Yep, like I've been saying for years, the British are being ripped off by estate agents who cause the hyper-inflated prices that blight our housing market.

I live in a great place on the outskirts of Manchester, though it still needs a lot of work doing. I would, however, much prefer to live in the countryside as far away from people as possible - but that isn't likely due to work and my two sons' passion for supporting Manchester United (how could I take them away after what we've been through?).

Canada looks great - and I'd get to meet cj and xjw-b12 and mouthy and expatbrit and rayzorblade, et.al.

    Sure gets ya thinking...........................

I looked at emigrating to Canada a couple of years ago and unfortunately it's become pretty difficult. I'm just under the number of points needed :-( so I'm going to Australia instead. Depending on what skills you have, and if you have family there you could be sorted - I only visited Quebec, Montreal and Toronto and fell in love with the place as it is a great combination of beautiful scenery and funky cities.

Housing here in California is through the roof. Very hard to find something unless you want a fixer upper or are more willing to move eastward. And thats what a lot of people are doing....new towns with a job basis to support the homes being built......new malls, new car dealers, etc.......

Add 1000 square feet and another $8000. It would still be a good deal and it would have wider rooms. Those rooms are very narrow.
