There's one thing I don't like about the idea: you're helping the 'Tower to create a huge database of names and addresses - a mailing list, if you will. Direct mail could well become their replacement for FS.

I would have to say that they could not use even the mail to mail out they're propaganda. There has to be a way to word that.

Great idea, avashi! You can count me in 100 percent! I'm happy to volunteer for something like that!

It would be good to have something like a flyer explaining what a cult is, the witnesses beliefs to re-affirm they're cult status (or high-control status), and then have the form available.

There would be hundreds of people signing those, avashi! Even thousands.

Again, there would be some serious legal issues; will the witlesses argue that it violates they're freedom of religion? I know it doesn't, but how would this legally hold up in court?

Lots of questions, and I hope one of our fine lawyer posters can give us some advice here. I forget the one that has given out legal advice... shoot.

Then include a "Do not mail" clause in the letter.

And besides, we're doing a good enough job already bringing down the 'Tower. As long as they don't acknowledge their personal scandals that we make public online, they're going to be easy pickings for oppositional researchers. Those are the people that are the real ones that turn people away on an intellectual level.

Direct mail would cost them too much postage and without their volunteer publishers slave workers, there would be no sales tactics involved to start a bible study.

If the list got to big, the Watchtower would almost go around it and call anyway, citing the 1st Amendment (and they might have a point.. the Do Not Call list does not apply to nonproffits <wish it applied to nonprophets>).

But if there were hundres of thousands of people on that list (and that is not an impossibility), then the list would be large enough that if they widely violated it, it would make a media stink for them.
