I finally finished "Crisis of Conscience"

Last night, I decided to finally finish off the book. It takes me forever to read a book, and after a year, I've finally completed it. Quite a good book, although I found myself skimming through the last chapter called "Perspective". It was basically Ray's view on God and Jesus. I guess years of being exposed to the subject made me care less for the last chapter. Other than that, I enjoyed it and thought it was well worth the 30 bux I spent on it.

Where was this book years ago when I really needed it?

I guess he was just recovering also thats why it wasnt there when you needed it. Glad you finished the book. Are you going to read his other book now ."In search of Christian freedom"?

C of C is what finally drove the nail in the coffin of the WTBTS for me.

I loved reading C or C but I have to say one thing: Ray needs a good editor. I couldn't finish In Search Of Christian Freedom. Ray tends to say the same thing three different ways in one sentence. I found myself having to paraphrase each sentence and paragraph to understand it. One thing I learned in freshman English in college was that when you write, say it with the least amount of words possible. In other words, trim unecessary words and phrases.

I understood, after trying to read In Search Of Christian Freedom, why I couldn't usually understand the "deep books" from the society. The books needed a good editing.

Are you going to read his other book now ."In search of Christian freedom"?

I haven't decided on that book yet. I have a couple others that I need to read. I have to finish "Toxic Parents" (I'm almost done, and it's very powerful), and my fiance just started reading a book I bought, but haven't got around to yet - "The Dirt" Motley Crue autobiography. She's laughing her ass off (and she doesn't really like Motley Crue)! I've read bits and pieces of it, and I agree with her, it's a book that's hard to put down.

She also brought home a book she used in her Nurse's Aid course about communication, and I want to read that one too. She's also got "The Joy of Sex" which I wanna read also.

I really enjoyed CofC. I even gave it to my neighbor and after she read it she said she plans to use it in her church for information to help JW's get out. I thought that was really cool. I thought it was humbly written and not out to get the WTS.

I have to agree with you FlyingHighNow. I think that's one thing that made the last chapter incredibly unappealing, and also why I'm questioning reading "In Search of Christian Freedom".

But I really think my next reading will be "The Dirt". Read the first paragraph in the book and you'll see why I'm anxious to read it:

Her name was Bullwinkle. We called her that because she had a face like a moose. But Tommy, even though he could get any girl he wanted on the Sunset Strip, would not break up with her. He loved her and wanted to marry her, he kept telling us, because she could spray her *** across the room.

CoC is really a superb book, it took me a week-end to read. Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, it is still not available in the UK. I went to 2 largest book stores in Birmingham and was told by both, US only and that was only 12 months ago. I eventually got it thru Amazon. Why isn't available off the shelf here?

Anyone in the UK, it is well worth the effort to get a copy, from anywhere.
