God certainly realizes that carrying out his righteous laws about cutting off wrongdoers often involves and affects relatives. As mentioned above, when an Israelite wrongdoer was executed, no more family association was possible. In fact, if a son was a drunkard and a glutton, his parents were to bring him before the judges, and if he was unrepentant, the parents were to share in the just executing of him, 'to clear away what is bad from the midst of Israel.' (Deuteronomy 21:18-21) You can appreciate that this would not have been easy for them. Imagine, too, how the wrongdoer's brothers, sisters, or grandparents felt. Yet, their putting loyalty to their righteous God before family affection could be lifesaving for them.

The Bible encourages us to check our beliefs against what it teaches. (1 John 4:1) Millions of readers of this magazine can testify that doing so has added purpose and stability to their lives. So be like the noble-minded Beroeans. 'Carefully examine the Scriptures daily' before you decide what to believe.

With the Christian Greek Scriptures, the "New Testament," the situation is different. Manuscripts of the book of Revelation (the last book of the Bible) have God's name in its abbreviated form, "Jah," (in the word "Hallelujah"). But apart from that, no ancient Greek manuscript that we possess today of the books from Matthew to Revelation contains God's name in full.

Thus it is evident that the original pronunciation of God's name is no longer known. Nor is it really important. If it were, then God himself would have made sure that it was preserved for us to use. The important thing is to use God's name according to its conventional pronunciation in our own language.

Wisely, Solomon said: "Do not go forth to conduct a legal case hastily." (Proverbs 25:8) If there is some valid reason to suspect that the alleged perpetrator is still abusing children, a warning may have to be given. The congregation elders can help in such a case. Otherwise, take your time. Eventually, you may be content to let the matter drop. If, though, you want to confront the alleged perpetrator (after first assessing how you would feel about the possible responses), you have a right to do so.

If the elders are approached by a member of the congregation who is experiencing flashbacks or "repressed memories" of child abuse, two of them are usually assigned to help. These elders should kindly encourage the afflicted one to focus for the time being on coping with the emotional distress. The names of any "remembered" abusers should be kept in strict confidence.

If the accusation is denied, the elders should explain to the accuser that nothing more can be done in a judicial way. And the congregation will continue to view the one accused as an innocent person. The Bible says that there must be two or three witnesses before judicial action can be taken

When I read the last three paragraphs I surely though that you were joking. Honestly I did not realize that you were serious!!!!!!

The WT organization is so defunct of love, it's not funny anymore - surely a pedophile paradise indeed! Genuine love for the abused child does not even come into the picture. What a slime ball kind of an organization! The WT is intent on destroying lives and families all in the name of their satanic Watchtower "God"... A shame indeed!

Is this for real? Is it ok if I copy and paste it to another board? There is a JW aol board where some diehard JW always go to act overly righteous.

    They are just "sick".

Science has taught us that "for every action; there is an equal and positive 'reaction' "

The "apostate" movement ( for lack of a better tem) ; as evidenced by all of us posters on this forum and others; can attest to the fact of the "reaction" to the Watchtower. Those of us who know and understand the true Watchtower teachings have "reacted" in a positive way--we have left.

May have to be given? May?

This says all there is to say about the WTS warped approach to this issue. What possibly reason would there be for NOT warning someone when the "alleged perpetrator" is "still abusing children"?

Interesting. They chose to use the word "may" instead of "shall". Makes all the difference in the world.

Anyone who is feeling the sadness and pain that the disfellowshipped relative has thus caused may find comfort and be encouraged by the example set by some of Korah's relatives.

Oh so it's all my fault everyone is pain!
