Interesting observations I've noticed when visiting my Uber Elder cousin and his wife. He just inherited a lovely home on the water on Puget Sound from his non JW dad who passed away earlier this year. So they have spent many $$$ and months remodeling this house to their standards which are quite expensive tastes. IIt really didn't need all the upgrades that they have done. And they have just gotten a new car as well, his wife said to me "Oh this will be our "death car" or the last car we own before we die." Hmmmm? Oh and his youngest daughter and husband that lives in this inherited house are going to live there for another year and then they will build their own house on some property 30 miles north of this house. So I guess the plans continue even though the ORG is telling everyone to simplify etc. or go where the great are needed (or where the need is great!) I guess that doesn't apply to JW royality.

So I don't even think they realize what they are saying when they say this stuff to me and it's very amusing! Of course I didn't say anything like "what about Armaggedon coming next week" just more fun to listen to what this idiots are saying.

I dont think any JW actually believes Armageddon is imminent. More like a decade away or something like that. It's like that old saying "tomorrow never comes".

Yes, speaking to PIMOs I get the impression that the social club spirit is eclipsing the holy spirit.

The average JW is goes through the rituals for the sake of appearances 'cos that is what you have to do to be a member. In the main they are fed up with waiting for the ever fading paradise promise and calmly accept their own death like unbelievers.

The carrot has withered and gone mouldy so all the GB can do is give them the stick by way of "Do more!"

The new way of coping as a JW is to take it all with a pinch of salt! The gb will be furious when they realize what is actually going on in the minds of their sheep. They may have to admit defeat earlier than we think.

Whatever, it is another nail in the Watchtower coffin.

How did the GB miss this..Some people are convinced that when the total solar eclipse makes its way across the US may mean the beginning of the end of life on earth. Eclipse August 21st.

I bought a new car and everyone questioned me about it because the car i traded in was fairly new. Some asked "is this your Armageddon car?" I was like yeah if the end comes within the next two years 0__o

If they think the end is just around the corner then tell them to sell all their belongings and go and promote the the realestate company, show them the scripture about the early disciples doing it, then ask them to remember your sorry arse when they are playing with pandas.

@JamesMixon, I know! GB probably scared it won't and scared it will, all at the same time.

This 'double standard' is always amusing.

Met an elderly lady once in Australia, whose family had been associated with the Bible students/JWs since before 1914. In the kerfuffle after Russell died and renewed claims of the nearness of the big A, her mother sold their house - a very nice house according to this old lady (sucker!!!). When the news filtered around of the sale, the prominent 'hen' in that particular congregation approached the mother and said, "Why didn't you tell me you were selling, I would have bought it."

The unknown author (perhaps unknown, because it could have been a woman) held up the example of faithful servants of the jewish god in the past.

"They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground." (Hebrews 11:38)

But that example is no longer held up to contemporary witnesses.
