Today, I don't go into work til 10:30 so I am comfy in my bed, the heater is on, Teryn is next to me eating her breakfast watching cartoons. Last week, on my day off, we lit a fire in the fireplace and stayed in jammies til 10 and played Animal Dominoes.

I would love to live a life without having to work but my house needs fixing up (not renovations or anything). I need new carpet, been buying plantation shutters ---- doing one room at a time. I painted her bedroom but she needs a big girl bed. Of course, I have the regular mortgage and car payment, insurances, etc.

If you inherited money or won the lotto, how much would you need every year to not have to go to work, or would you work part-time just to get out? How much money does it take for you to think you are rich? Some people insist they love their jobs and even if they won the lotto they'd still work.............. what about you?

If all the bills are paid off...car, house...etc with just the monthly neccessities left.....30K a year would be more than adequate.

It would even leave room for a little travel..apostafests and things like that.

Good Topic! The 225 million lotto is tonight and I bought my 2 tickets

I would live off 100,000 a year and save the rest. I would also put my self through school and learn a few trades so that i could better myself. Education is priceless.

The Midwest is a low caost area -- can buy a really good house with land for 150,000 $, so I reckon if I won 1 million --with careful investing I couldlive comfortably without working for the rest of my life

Regardless of how much money I had, I would keep working. I'd probably leave my current job for another, or possibly start a business. I'd definitely get more education too. I can only take so much TV, internet, or vacationing before I get very bored.

    Depends on where you live.

Here in the San Francisco Bay suburban area, a decent 3-bedroom 2-bathroom house starts around $500k. The property tax is about 1.25% of the house price. Here the household income has to be around $80k - $100k per year in order to be "middle class". Apparently there are many small business owners and professionals who make more than that in here. I didn't know we were poor until we started house hunting recently.

Even if I win the lotto (say $20 mill.), I would continue working. Probably not full time, but part time because I love my job.

I would still want to work some... at least volunteer work. I think you need to have something to feel fullfilled at. Let's face it, you don't always get the same koodo recognition at home that you can get on a job.

If I am rich and must keep working I'm going to be a suntan lotion applicator for the Sports Illustrated Swim suit edition.

40 billion should do the trick, then I would retire, buy a small island country and become a spacefaring pot farmer.

I live in Southern California, and I don't know how anyone can really make it without making at least $100,000 a year.

I enjoy helping other people realize their dreams, and in one of my businesses, that is what I do. So I would never completely retire, though I can see myself working about 15 hours a week, helping others.
