Talk to Cowboy.... that man owns a literal herd of cattle! The man once brought some amazing steaks to an apostafest here in dallas!
Unless, of course, you are interested in some other kind of beef... cause I got's plenty of that for ya!

Thanks for the tips - I'll check them all out! My son is also a beef fan, but less particular than I am. Maybe I can surprise him with some actually great tasting dinners soon.
Thanks, Elsewhere, you're so cute, but no double meaning here, no pun intended!
KANSAS CITY
I had the best to die for beef when I visited my sister 5 years ago in Texas!!! The bro who threw the barbecue had bought it from another bro who owned a herd of range fed............I could NOT believe how tender and tasteful it was.............from first to last bite...............but, he only sold it in half a cow sizes.....................I'd love to get more someday..............mmmmmmmmm
Not to sound anti-Texas or anything...but I don't find the beef down here any better than what I could get back in NH....sorry!
I will say, though that the best steak house I have been to is Bugaboo Creek...which they don't have down here...I think it just means that I don't get out enough down here, because there are more steak places in DFW area then most of the country combined I think hahaah
Wal-mart actually used to have really good angus steaks at their butcher counter, but they don't seem to anymore.
I would suggest trying to find a local butcher. Since all the draughts the last few years beef hasn't looked to great nor been cheap at all. I don't even buy hamburger anymore, just turkey burger because that is actually cheaper than hamburger now.
by the way...you should try bison/buffalo if you have not yet...much less fat and extremely yummy!
Ah, now steak houses, that's another good question! Also hard to find, as well as good ribs. But last year I had such incredibly good ribs with son at T.G.I.Fridays - until that, I thought it was impossible to find good ribs anymore either!
I found Sams Club usually has great steaks, thick, but you have to buy a lot of them and it comes out to about $100 a pack. Its all how you prep you meat, and season it.
I went to a local gourmet meats market finally today - bought Korean style marinated steak, rib eyes, prepared meat loaf, and turkey meat loaf.
Got it all home, cooked the Korean steak and the rib eyes - son loved both; Korean was pretty good, nothing great, and the rib eye the same. Tender though.
I hope I hear back from Cowboy. I pm'd him, but he hasn't even posted here in a long time. Will he even get the pm?
I'll try the ranch that Room 215 suggested now.
Thanks!
