    Yes, just downloaded the latest BIOS in English for my Adaptec, so I now can utilise the 150 quids worth of SCSI controller card - hmmm, this threads actually got me going in a new direction!

    ball, which Adaptec card do you have? Is it U160 or U320? If so you might consider a SCSI drive, but they are quite expensive for the size you get. My 36GB Cheetah 15k.3 drive cost about $350. It beats the snot out of an IDE drive performance-wise, but that alone may not be worth the cost.

    A big advantage to buying SCSI is they're built like tanks... designed to run in servers 24x7. Most SCSI drives come with a 5 year warranty while IDE drives come with only 1 year. I compromise a bit. I have a 36GB SCSI drive for my OS and applications, then use a 120GB IDE drive for MP3s and games.

Geek would not even come to mind as you stood in front of your purple marvel machine!

    ok, I now pronounce this a geek free zone, no one turned on by pictures of computers, I work at the third biggest installation of server farms in the uk, and dribble as I walk in to work.
