Ya know, it's funny. I drove by a bilboard the other day showing a hand w/ a nail thru it and blood spurting out. Now, if I were to show, for instance billboards, etc. of Jews being tortured in the holocaust or inqusition, it would'nt be allowed. Because it's too disturbing. But we can show "Dead guy on a stick" anywhere in this country, no matter how graphic and disgusting. Why?

Avishai: It's because people are politically correct. This is universal phenomenon. At the core of the matter is the fact that humans classify different events as "more" politically correct and "less" politically correct, using an absolutely arbitrary scale that would have any real scientist pulling his hair out within minutes.

It's bloody frustrating, and I can't possibly agree more with badger. It's OK for Christians (AND THEIR CHILDREN!!!) to see an actor getting whipped to within inches of his life, then nailed to a cross and left to die, but to see an actual semi-naked BOOBIE! Dear God no! I think Whitehouse.org's article on the subject of that exposed boobie, and the vast shockwaves it sent around a nation that seemed to have forgotten it's complete familiarity with boobies in general, said it the very best, but there's no way in hell I'm linking to that here, I'd be booted faster than you can say CHIHAUHA!

For instance, in Africa, it's pretty much de rigeur for women in isolated villages and North of South Africa to walk around topless all day long. Boobies just aren't a big deal there, not the way they are in the Western World. Nobody gives a sh*t if they see a boobie. However, I'm sure that seeing a guy being nailed onto a stake would traumatize a large fraction of that particular population.

If you think about it some more, if you were breastfed when you were younger, you would've gotten intimately familiar with mammary glands in general. Then, WHAM, as soon as you were weaned, KAZOOM, boobies are now OFF-LIMITS, and seeing them even on TV is DISGUSTING AND VILE! Until God says you can look at them, that is. Or, to be more accurate, until one of God's representatives says you're allowed to look at them.

Are your eyes crossed yet? Mine are. I just don't understand it...humans are weird

Of course, the kids must have been reminded a million times afterwards that Jesus died on a stake, not a cross, according to the witnesses.

I haven't had a chance to delve too much into their reason for saying he died on a stake and not a cross... My wife says it's because it is written that he was nailed to a tree... I always thought the tree description was just symbolic and that use of the word crucifixion hit the nail on the head a bit better (pardon the pun)...
