I'm puzzled with this plan the WTS has. Aside from the $$$$ subject that many already mentioned, what will happen to these old folks when they study for a while? They are confined to the nursing home, can they go to the meetings? Because you know that's the first thing all JW's stress when they're studing with someone. If they don't go to the meetings, that means, according to the WTS, that the students are not appreciating what they are learning. Also, they'll be encouraged to go out preaching. Again, how can they do that?! So, if these folks are really NOT going to progress like any other people who study with the JWs, or even, if they are not even EXPECTED to progress, for obvious reasons, then, I guess there's really something else behind all this.

    Skully:

I have not heard of the (Reverse Morgage) plan you mentioned. But I do know that even if the nursing home takes (every bit) of an elderly persons Social Security or retirement funds, there are other funds that (could be) untouched, --that the Watchtower would (love to get) their hands on.

My Grandmother was 105 when she died. The Nursing Home took every penny of her money except for someone coming into the nursing home to take care of her hair needs. Just before she died, she left me an inheritance---that neither I nor anyone in our family even knew about.

The sum of 96 dollars was in a safety deposit box, that we were unaware that she even had. When the Elderly are vunerable and speak their inner most secrets to Elders, because they know they are dying, then this opens up many (chances) for the Watchtower, to steal right from Safety Deposit Boxes, Wills, Property Deeds, and other ways that the Watchtower uses to manipulate and prey on elderly. All it takes is a (signiture) and a witness. And everything could be gone. After all, hasn't the Watchtower tried ---and done this before? How many Elders have we read about---who were caught doing this very thing to the Elderly?

Doesn't the Watchtower list (Wills, Valuables, deeds, property, and anything else it can get its hands on--in its description of (Contributions) in the Watchtower Magazine? SVU

Going to meetings, personal study and out preaching are only ways for them to control what you think and do.This control gives them power over your mind, your body and your $$$$$.

For old persons, perhaps nearing death in a retirement home they can take a shortcut. The only way left for many old people to show support for "the truth" is with money. I believe many old people as they approach death almost try to make a deal with God by giving much or all of their money to the WT. I think if this plan goes forward it will become a very effective cash cow for the WT.

I posted before about inheritances and the WTS in my own life.I think of them being nothing more than thieves and grave robbers. They take money under false pretenses.Fear of death and the unknown prompt many old people to give generously in the last moments of life.

While I understand the appeal of featuring a murderous sexual predator, it does seem that it would be better to talk about the financial predation of Jehovah's Witnesses. I do think that if people with little knowledge/experience with JWs have any opinions about them, that opinion would not include financial fraud. I think sending something to nursing homes/retirement communities is an excellent idea, but I think the focus on child molestors/sexual predators is not likely to be as much of a concern to nursing home administrators and having Mr. Milquetoast inveigle someone's estate out of them.

Correct me if I'm wrong here but I see nothing about prisons being given this attention,

    just nursing homes.

    But of course:

    1) Prisoners usually have no money - or property to leave in a will

    2) They aren't generally addled, senile, or mindlessly docile

and they often ASK A LOT OF QUESTIONS that can easily challenge the

average Witness - in my observation, often vastly more difficult than anything

encountered in field service. Remember, these folks are street smart

and spend many hours alone reading.

It looks like the Society's motives are, once again, obvious.

if the elderly at nursing homes are connected to meeting by phone lines they can be counted I believe as in attendance. Some of them have money to donate AND they can count time witnessesing to others in the home.
