hey doc...it is also happening on usb floppy devices from what I read...Dell doesn't even address the issue properly and from what I have read is is not only a know issue, but one that nobody has a sure fire fix to. Microsoft suggest reformatting or getting a tool to edit the media descriptor on each floppy, which IMO is stupid as hell. So I have to disagree somewhat as i imagine it is a BIOS and OS problem, but you could be right about the alignment, but I wouldn't think it would be an issue on brand new machines....
