As my mom used to say all the time: "money talks and shit walks". I agree with Franklin J. on this one.

However, after further perusal of the thread and info. therein, maybe the world is ready for a change, and it's time for major changes..........it's hard to believe that the "average Joe and Josephine" have had it with people raping them and benefiting off their backs, but, all life is cyclical in nature and maybe it is now time for the cycle to bring the downtrodden back up...................hmmm, it will be an interesting next few years............if some mad dictator or religious fanactic doesn't blow us all to, excuse me for saying this, Kingdom Come

The penalties add up to 20 years, but all experts agree that she won't nearly serve that much time. My personal guess, it she is sentanced from 6 to 24 months, quite possibly a suspended sentence, meaning she won't serve any time at all. Even if she does go, she will be let out half way through the sentence.

She flat out knew what she did was wrong, having been involved in the stock market for a living before her career took off. What she did was wrong, simple as that.

I am all for someone making as much money as they want and having a great career, but this is a perfect example of greed taking place. As mentioned above, she saved about $50,000 by dumping the stock. She is paying a big price for that greed.

Apparently her attitude is pretty defiant, which doesn't sit well with many people. She thinjks she is above others, and should be able to get away with what she did. She tried to decieve people, and got caught.

If the government wants you, they'll get you.

Exactly. You think Ken Lay is worried? humph, not with his buddies in the White House.

Omnimedia was trading for around $20 a share before the scandal broke. It hit $10 within a matter of days. She lost half her worth, which was in the billions to save about $200,000.

That is arrogance. She was worried enough about $200,000 to risk everything? I think not. Rich people think that murder and armed robbery are the only crimes apparently.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Martha Stewart, the domestic trendsetter convicted last week of lying to cover up an illegal stock sale, told a television news program in 1995 that dishonesty is a sin she cannot abide in people.

Dishonesty "bothers me a lot and I'm always amazed at how many people are dishonest," she told "60 Minutes" correspondent Morley Safer.

My first reaction was..yeah!! Good! People should not be able to buy themselves out of trouble.I still believe that but who is really going to suffer??She might suffer (a little) short term but all the share holders and the many many people that Martha employee are going to suffer long term.

"There is always a price to pay when you are a successful women and you behave like a successful man." I dunno. Sam Waksal, the president of Imclone, is serving seven years in the pokey....I'm sure Martha will never see that time.
