I stood behind the Troof all the way. To be able to live on a planet where everything is possible was like a dream.
I really believed it. Too bad it's one Great Deception.

I won't forgive the ones responsible.

"I won't die cause the new system is round the edge." And this is now a problem for me ... So i just take my life at this very moment and try to enjoy

I believed it - in fact I'm suprised you haven't got 100% YES response to this question - surely that is the whole key-stone to being a witness.

And only now thinking about pensions, savings and investments in my 30's, perhaps I will start a thread on that sometime.

100% gullible here! Claire and I had four young children, we feared for their futures and we thought the JWs had the answer - a wonderful paradise earth coming ANY DAY now and we could live FOREVER upon it!

Amazing, isn't it, that the older ones you talked to said they never expected their children to grow up; that they thought Armageddon would have occurred way back. Then, you talked to the really old ones in the congregation and guess what? They said "We never expected our children to grow up before Armageddon came. Now, they've children of their own!"

Sigh! Yes, it is continually perpetuated and some gullible suckers continue to fall for the "Armageddon is just around the corner" garbage. Well, I've been round every corner in these here parts and Watchtower's corner is all circular. "Armageddon is getting sooooooo close" is the groove the needle's stuck in and the "Millions now Living will Never Die" of 1925 are virtually all dead while almost 80 years later JWs STILL believe it.

What do I believe now? Death is inevitable for each and everyone of us and it's something we must all come to terms with. It isn't easy, I know, but once one realises the truth about it we can live our lives in such a way that the fear of death can be eradicated or, at the very least, cushioned somewhat. I'd much rather face death in full knowledge and with my integrity intact than live the lie of Watchtower.

I wonder how many people WANTED to die before Armageddon so that they could live forever and not have to worry about screwing up before then.

I never thought that I was good enough to live through Armageddon. What a terrible burden to carry.

It really was not a matter of believing it or not for me. I just never thought about it. I never dreamed about paradise, for sure.

When we are youthful......we never think about dying much.......even a non-dub. When we get in our 40's......especially our 50's........we begin to think about death because we know we only have another 20 years or so at best.

I was told I would never have to worry about school because armageddon would be here. Then I was told I would never have to worry about raising kids in this system becuse the end would be here. Then I was told my daughter would never have to worry about school. Then My daughter believed her kids would never have to worry about school. Now my grandkids are 12 and 9. No.....I never thought about dying...... till I lost my religion. I kept takin the bait like everybody else did in the troof.
