Beware of the 'Voice of Strangers'...

...unless she has a sexy voice, her phone number starts with 1-900, and it costs you $4.00 a minute to talk to her

Seriously, has anyone every called '900' numbers or the like for umm, the entertainment value?

I see these numbers once in a while on TV, and I wonder how these companies make money off of this.

People must be calling in enough to make it a lucrative business.

I don't understand why someone would do this.

Especially guys, since they are typically more visual orientated, but I'm sure guys are the ones feeding these companies because I can't imagine a girl calling in.

My thought provking 'Bradley' Q for the week I guess

Paul, you either need to get out more or invest in some good sleeping pills. I haven't seen an ad for 900 numbers since I was a new mother up at all hours feeding the kids. Got to watch the entire series of "St. Elsewhere" all over again too. Actually, my favorite was that Jamaican psychic -- loved her accent!

You mean to be employed and taking those calls?

I guess it would be interesting to know what goes on,

but my guess would be that one would want to scrub down with Comet and a Brillo pad after work for a day

Oh, she was wonderfully entertaining on those commercials, wasn't she mawn?

What ever happend to her and all of the rest of those Psychic folks?

They must not have forseen that business would dry up for them

well one place I used to work for opened a location in another town....I went down once a week and did the books for them...in reviewing the phone bill I found a LOT of 900 numbers called...lol I was young and innocent and a dub then and decided to call the number to see what it was....imagine my suprise! Needless to say the guy running the store and making the calls got fired, but judging from the amount of calls I would have to say it's a pretty good business.

FYI the guy was ICKY so maybe that was all he could get....

I haven't personally called these 900 numbers but a couple of my buddies have. When I got married I had some buddies stay at my place before the wedding. They called some of these numbers without me knowing and I ended up with the bill. I was a good dubbie a the time and was quite upset with them. I laugh about it now but I never did get the $60 they owed me.lol

She was found out to be a fraud. She isn't Jamaican. You also dont get to talk to her. If you talk for hours and hours then finally you might get to talk to her. It turns out she is from LA. She was prosecuted in California and I am not sure of the specific charges but she was found guilty and her enterprise was taken down.

She was used as a voice actor in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. She played a Haitian cocaine Gang queen.

    LOL....I agree. too funny.

Paul...doing auditing, you be surprised how many lonely souls out there use company's credit card to call some "900" type of services. I had some fun auditing them (voyeur)

I guess as an innocent dub, who would guess that's what it was?

That is pretty funny! Nice joke. They did it just to shock you I'd imagine?

    First in line,

That's right, I heard something about that now that I think about it

America, the land of oppurtunity. Just look at her and the Hung Long guy from American idol

I agree too. I gotta get out more, cause sleeping is a breeze.

Late night TV is a funny beast. Alot of 'make money selling real estate' infomercials, car ads, and Criag Kilbourne, which makes staying up that late all worthwhile

I bet. Did you ewver have to confront the people about the bills? I could imagine the look as someones face when this would be brought up.

I briefly rebounded (for 3 days) with a girl who worked for one of these companies. If they would have seen her, they would think twice about calling :)
