Since the WTS is reading so carefully.. lol.. how tempting it would be to have a confess all sins of others thread...

help them clean house a little..

oh.. bet we couldn't do that for fear of slander... after all.. they can't sue brothers and sisters but since we left the fold, they probably could sue us huh..

never mind.. it was just a thought...

We were ingrained with the thought that we MUST report EVERYTHING to the elders or else we could become "bloodguilty". Pathetic, huh?

Before I was an elder; never.

When I became an elder myself there were some things I felt I had to take to the body. On the other hand there were lots of things I didn't, handled them myself. I guess I really never really trusted some of the jerks who served as fellow elders.

It's a pathetic way to get Brownie points, but a lot of JWS will do anything to garner approval from the elders. Even if u are not attending regular or in FS, reporting someone will put u in their good graces.

Some JWs excel at being "brownnosers" toward the elders. Most Witnesses, I think, try to not get into controversies so that they need not get involved!

Nope, I knew plenty of people who turned people in and always found those snitches to be repugnant.

I would never have reported anyone to the elders.

Ha--the title of this thread is different than the tone in the 1st post (snitch or secret-keeper), so let me put it this way: one time I complained about someone at the hall.

But really the complaint was about the elders themselves for not warning me.

What happened is I rented a room out to a JW woman who turned out to be a secret drunk and she stole from me! Plus, bounced checks. I had asked an elder from whom she rented a room before and he said she was no problem. But I found out he knew that she did, in fact, have problems.

She next rented a room from another JW woman (I refuse to say sister) and it was the same hassle.

It turned out about a year later, after I asked her--no told her--to move that she OD'd on drugs and died. So sad.

Oddly enough, the elder I talked to about her when I complained about her was more concerned that she had smoked a cigarette than her drinking "problem."
