1: I can think for myself, and act for myself.

2: Government should perform specific duties, but not encroach on inalienable rights of man.

    3. Consentual acts that harm no one are not criminal.

    4. A Free Market should be truly free, without a WTO, supply side economics, tax incentives, barriers to starting a business, or government subsidies.

    5. Taxes should be lowered, if not eradicated.

    6. America should get out of the World Policeman business.

    7. The Two-Party system is inherently flawed.

    8. Religion has no place in government. Government has no place in religion.

    9. Direct elections.

    10. Government has no business telling an individual what to do with their body.

You know, I used to work with a self-identified Libertarian. Unfortunately, he wasn't very good at it... his political philosophy always ended up boiling down to "there shouldn't be laws against what I want to do...but I'm not so aggravated about what others want to do that I don't care about."

I am not castigating all Libertarians with this description... but anyone know someone like this?

Although the media has not been able to dectect it, scientists believe the Genus Votius Independius lies dormant deep in the ground, only coming out on a specific tuesday in November, but may be far more common then all species put together.

I guess out of all the polictical viewpoints out there I have always leaned towards Libertarianism. I think the government should stay out of our lives! Sure there is a need for some government intervention in matters, but in this country there is always a major catrosphe about to happen.

Ah, yes, but is one's political dogma identified by acts or rhetoric?

And how many people take an *active* part in enforcing / promoting said dogma?

I was with you until that one. Eliminating taxes will not make you wealthier. It will make corporations even more powerful and destroy our infrastructure.

Tarrifs could cover a great deal of what personal income taxes are needed to cover, especially if the military and social welfware budgets were dramatically reduced.
