Question for those who were christian BEFORE a JW.

I was talking to another apostate heathen bastard ex-dub the other day and he told me his son...also ex-dub...is taking a college course in religions. He said his son mentioned he learned of love and unity among many beliefs he's learning about. I changed the subject and it made me think of the love and unity I have personally seen when I was doing the lord thing at various churches. I saw the brotherhood I saw in dublife, but dublife brotherhood is all I've known in any depth.

    Heres the question.

When a christian from a strong church who has spent much time in seeing the same type of "family type" atmosphere in christendom as they see in dubland, ever KNOW in their heart that the society's claims of having the patent on love and unity is a lie? Did you ever QUESTION their claims of chistendom having no REAL BROTHERHOOD? I was raised a dub so I don't know how I would have felt about it. I don't hear of too many JW's who go back to christendom because they were stumbled by this fact.

    Comments?

Hey bubba....I usually hear ex-dubs who take up other christian religions that the love and unity is better because it's unconditional....The j-dubs always point to not killing each other in war as the difference...what about killing with false teachings both literally and otherwise?

Amen shotgun. They won't kill their neighbor but will abbandon those that are closest to them.

The society ALWAYS cherrypicks horror stories of those who left christendom with no love.....to a unified brotherhood with a REAL AND SURE hope when they became a JW. I suppose they also have to DROP all their old doctrines also. The more I think about it.....I don't think you would find too many christians with both feet solid in christianity.....that could even become a dub unless a total doctrinal reversal could be made which would be tough.

I'm off the subject and going to bed now.

Thats the only example I could think of. That is there only example of how they have love. The irony is that going to war is an act of love if you are on the right side. You are risking life and limb. You have everything to lose and nothing to gain as an individual. The people that stay at home reap every benefit from the sacrifice of the soldier. They just leave out the bravery and love in the sacrifice that goes into jumping in front of a foreign army for your sake and right to then call that person unloving. If all "christendom" is false beacause "they all go to war" then all JWs are doomed because they are all "cowards." (Rev 21:8)

If JWs dont want to go to war more power to them. But condemning people that sacrifice for them is the highest form of cowardice.

After being tossed by the wt (actually before they tossed me), i was a happy church goer. Church goers's love is a lot more unconditional than dub love, although, it's still conditional. One christian lady, i guess i was friends w for a over two yrs, when she realised i was into what she called/thought was new age/didn't believe in the bible/jesus anymore, dropped the friendship like a rancid beer. If yer not 'in the lard' anymore, yer goin to that dense darkness, and that depresses them. Friends, who needs em.

I don't know that the witnesses are cowards anymore than anyone else. Their refusal of war as you know, is because of it teaching on political neautrality. You are right about someone putting down those who protect and fight for rights. Had men not fought....many more would have died in WW2 in the concentration camps

    SS,

I know what you mean Saint bastard. I learned real quicklike to watch what I said about the bible and Jesus around believers. Some can take it as hard as a dub who hears of one leaving the Organisation.

Nobody yet has said if they were stummbled by the societys teaching that THEY ALONE have love in their ranks.

I was raised a dub too, but my parents were from a mainstream Christian background (C-of-E and Salvation Army). I think the answer to the question lies in why people convert to JWs in the first place. If my parents' spiritual, emotional and social needs were being met by the mainstream church at that time, they would not have become JWs.

As it happens, my father had been totally turned off religion by the people in his SA corps as he grew up, and my mother had questions that the C-of-E was not giving her an answer for, back in 1970. Had their experiences been different I may have been raised as a good little tambourine basher instead of door knocker.

They are convinced that they are part of a warm fuzzy international brotherhood because they are living it every day. They seem to have international visitors every other weekend and their hospitality leaves nothing to be desired, and they are always running around helping elderly and needy friends.

We are XJWs because it was not giving us something we needed - be that love, justice, truth, consistency or just a good sit-down. They are JWs because it is giving something they needed and had not got somewhere else, and now they think it doesn't exist anywhere else.

My grandparents started the Jehovah Quest in my family. They were both Catholics. JWs came to their house and the issue then was hell. They posed some challenges and my grandpa decided that they were right. He challenged the priest and said "the bible doesnt say anything about hell." and according to him the priest didnt know what to say. So they became dubs.

My dad for some reason I guess got suckered into the 1975 paranoia and converted. When 1975 fizzled he couldnt believe the retardation of everyone saying that it doesnt matter. He has been pissed off about everything ever sinced. But he seems ok now. I think he is happier than he has ever been. And he was not a pleasant person to grow up with.

He got his sister to join. I dont know how her husband got in. They all converted around the same time I guess. Her husband is a part of the deception. I have talked to him. He is into information suppression. The women are generally just sheepish but my mother was into information suppression also.

What is information suppression? Is it when one refuses to listen to something?

BTW....thanks for sharing some info, bout your family. Sounds like your dad had a bit of intelligence to see through the 75 fiasco.

Information suppression is when you don't tell someone pertinent information because you decide it is best that they just don't know about it. For example I didnt know about 1975 until the early 90s. I also didnt know about John 1:1 till the mid 90s.

My mom knew about these things the whole time of course. Information suppression is a form of deception but it is passive enough to not get the designation of deception as long as the person comes clean and admits it is true without trying to conceal it once it is known.

I have seen the look of shock on the face of my aunt when debating my uncle about scripture. He simply gave her a reluctant nod of his head as he closed his eyes. That is an example of information suppression. Knowing full well that someone would be effected by information that you know and have every responsibility to tell them when it pertains to such an important aspect of someone's life and future.
