As I see it, the steadily increasing building of the anti-religious attitude among the people in the USA and other countries is an event not to be dismissed quickly. The constant talk about the UN playing a larger role in the War on Terror is something of note too. IMO
I see more people turning to religion than before. I may have missed something but i don't see the usa as anti-religious. .
sure hope you put away for a retirement pintail.. because Armegeddon is not around the corner to save you

PS. It's not that great.
Matt 24:23 - "Then if anyone says to you 'Look! Here is the Christ' or 'There!' do not believe it". v 27 - "For just as the lightening comes out of the eastern parts and shones over the western parts, so the presence of the son of man will be".
Jesus did warn us not to believe claims like what the WT makes. If only we'd listened earlier! When/(if?) Jesus kingdom does come, it's going to be as obvious as sheet lightening!
AND most importantly, we won't be judged based on how much marketing of WT magazines we did!! YAY bring on the kingdom I say!

The bible also says that people would say , Where is this promised pressence of his? I think all the angles are covered as to the attitudes of the world prior to conclusion of the system of things .
I'm sorry that you waited for so long. I waited for 20 years and then got disillusioned by many many things. I am trying to move ahead and get on with life and look back at my experience in the Org as an experience that was something unique to the majority. I am probably a more thinking person because of it and I probably appreciate some things more than the average person. Sleeping in on Saturdays--lazy Sunday morning breakfasts--Tues nights at home watching American idol (I admit it I like that show) and best of all not being told who I can and who I cannot love.... I can also unload some of some of the guilt and stress now such as: I am not doing enough for the Org--I am not performing enough--studying enough--etc, etc.
It is strange though not to have a clear hope or answer for the future of humankind. I mean the whole Armegedon thing was such a grand conclusion to it all. It is a tradeoff for the freedom of being alive. Life is still a glorious mystery...I remain awestruck , but am no longer JW dumbstruck...
I always thought Armageddon was a fantastically stupid idea -- the "god of love" going around killing all his children? That never sat quite right with me. I mean I'm not a parent. But I'm pretty sure if I was I wouldn't kill one or any of my children because they disagree with me on a few things or they see the world in a slightly different way.
Armageddon is Christianity's bogeyman, lurking in the closet to snatch you up at night. Fear is an essential component of any successful religion.
I also think we should remember were most of this end of the world thought in the bible comes from: John, ancient and probably senile, living on Patmos; Daniel, who if you read his writings comes off as a pure whack job, desperately in need of some thorazine.
Sorry, I couldn't believe it then and I can't believe it now. I guess that means I'm going to die at Armageddon -- which to me would be supremely ironic. I'd probably get a good laugh out of it.
"I see more people turning to religion than before. I may have missed something but i don't see the usa as anti-religious"
It's not that there are less religious people today wednesday, what's new is the anti-religion movement that's steadily growing in strength. 40 years ago it didn't exist. Now it's in the news almost daily.
