People we met in field service in my area would frequently say Joe-Var as in, "it's 'em Joe-Var Witnesses at the door ag'in." At school we were known as Hovis Witnesses. (Hovis is a popular brand of bread in the UK)

Apparently..many here have never been to NU YACK.... (New york).

That's how they pronounce it... Jehovar

    Don't ask me why...

My sister and brother in law from N.Y.(JW's) just moved here to a small town in Mo.

I bet they will have fun talking to people in service here. A bunch of older farmers..

I was born (1952) in a NYC hospital. The first words I heard were from my Mom: "Oh dear Jehover, thank you that that's finally done with!"

And then the pediatrician slapped my back side as hard as he could, to wake me up from the neonatal morphine injections they used in those days...I was borne loopy, and been loopy ever since! LOLOL

And then at Bethel, I hear "Jehover" all over the place...remember Planet X?

A guy I studied with years ago used to say, "you 'hovahs". I thought it was funny. Some of the witness elite that I used to know would roll their eyes when an elder would say Jehover.

These people are just witnesses of themselves. "Are you going to meetings, are you going out in field service?" They don't deserve to carry God's name, no matter what it is or how it should be pronounced.
