Many posting here once would not accept a blood transfusion or give blood because of the WTS doctrine.

Having left that doctrine behind and being willing to "accept" a blood transfusion, are you willing (if able medically) to donate blood?

If willing to accept an organ transplant, are you willing (if medically able) to donate an organ, either as a live donor or when deceased?

If yes, to both questions, do you donate blood regularly? Do you have it listed on your driver's license and on any health directive documents that you wish to donate your organs when you die?

I am a fader but I decided to look into donating blood. I have finally gotten past my needle aversion. Unfortunately, my medical condition makes it impossible at this time. I am a designated organ donor though.

What about you? Have you checked with the Red Cross in your area? Can you update your driver's license and medical documents?

    got my forty homey?

On my job for NYC transit they regularly have blood donation drives once or twice a year where a big bus comes filled with seats, juice, and cookies. I guess being raised a Dub I never really thought about donating. I dont think I would donate my body parts to science because my wife being a devote Catholic would not allow it. I've told her I wanted to be cremated and have my ashes spread on Hollywood where the movie actors leave there foor prints!

No. Blood is normally tested for HIV and a positive test will have devastating effects on your life. I am an HIV/AIDS theory Apostate and believe that the majority of positives are false (If HIV exists at all).

While not being in a high risk group I have lived in countries that have diseases that could easily supply me with enough antibodies that correspond with the supposed HIV antibodies to give me a false positive.

I'd rather wait till I'm dead thanks, but family would come first.

I have given blood a few times and I'm on a list where they call me when they need my blood type.

I will probably put down to be an organ donor when I renew my license next year.

Black sheep, I'm sure many feel the same way. But being willing to consider doing it for a family member is good.

Homey, you have to consider your wife. But what if she were a devout JW and would not authorize a transfusion? It's your body.

Xena, the DMV (DOT,etc, etc) can update it now before that. My license won't be renewable for 8 years so I called and they were able to change it w/o charge. Give them a call and see if they might do it sooner. How was the blood donation experience?

    Hi Blondie

Good question. When we first had the "new light" on organ donation a few years ago, I personally felt quite strongly that if I would accept someone else's organs--which I would--I ought to be prepared to donate my own.

We discussed the matter as a family and all completed organ donation cards.

Regarding blood, although I now have no Scriptural objection to accepting a transfusion, I still feel it is a dangerous procedure and should only be considered as a last resort.

I have no objection to donating blood, but my medical condition does not allow it.

    Regards,

    Ken

Interesting question. I Never really considered it until now, but maybe its time I did.. espcially since London will probably be the next terrorist target.
