    Heathen,

    If only you were right.

Look behind many of the most successful rock bands today and yesterday and you will find that it is the cover numbers, or songs written by other writers have given them their following. It is often a surprising, but valuable experiment to trace the music to its roots, often you will find it belongs to others. Some of the poorest songwriters in monetary terms that I know of are also well known for greasing the careers of semi-talented, though admittedly more confident musicians.

As Hunter Thompson once wrote : "The music business is a cruel and shallow money trench, a long plastic hallway where thieves and pimps run free, and good men die like dogs. There's also a negative side".

    Everything is everything else.

    Hey guys,

I'm a rather poor guitarist,, I've built about maybe 10 guitars,, figured I save some money,, thought it would cost me about 50 to 100 bucks,,, boy was I ever wrong LOL. When you don't have money you have to invent ways to save it,, and in the end cost you more,, but noth the less I was happy,,so as to be spending the wee hours of the morning building with plenty of energy to wake up for work the next morning.

The trouble is I only spent 10 bucks on 2 lessons at 5 bucks a pop.

And just recently discovered the value of a metranome. I use it to count 6,7, or 8 beats per beep. I am left handed and play a right hand guitar,, I have been useing the metrnome to train my right hand almost exclusively,,, my rythym is inproving rapidly and my goal is to,,train my right hand to be dominant and make my left hand more like a servant to the right.

Tell me what anybody thinks about that.

frankiespeakin--- I like the strategy . I never tried a metronome either and never had any lessons per say but have known many guitar players most of which seemed to have a better grasp on the instrument than me . I am self taught by watching others in bands at nite clubs and reading some tabs or learning from ear . I agree that the pick had has to follow the lead of the chord change .

hillary- step--- I agree that there is nothing new under the sun when it comes to playing an instrument but the thing that sets people apart is being creative with the various beats and today there is so much technology that gives the ability for so many sounds . I don't think you have to be a genious to make some music of course it helps .

Lots of reasons. Mostly because I'm too lazy.
