No sex or marriage for Great Crowd

You're right, Cherjcd. This is one of their goofiest and thorniest doctrines.

BTW, there WILL be sex/marriage for the Great Crowd according to the WTS, because technically they're the ones who (according to Revelation) pass through the tribulation into the paradise.

HOWEVER, the other sheep (which equals the great crowd + resurrected ones) are divided into the sexless (resurrected) and childrearing (made it through Armageddon) classes in the New Order. (That is, until God stops procreation, if he doesn't send humans to populate other planets, bla bla bla).

It's all Bible-based, as another poster reminds us.

    a little history here.

Some guys in the Society tried to re-interpret this but couldn't get it done. It got so bad that members of the Writing Staff

tried to do away with ALL mention of marriage and childbearing in the new world. They slowly began removing all reference

    to it in the publications.

Then some older brothers argued that the doctrine was damaging the organization because it was encouraging young people

to get married too early ( at least so they thought). After that, they relented a bit and started mentioning marriage

    in the new world again.

You're right of course, Gopher, however my point was that the Watchtower has identified the timing of the great crowd as starting in 1935. The Watchtower's identification of this group in 1935 came via flashes of light and people have accepted their word as truth and set aside marriage and children. Instead they chose to delay having their children and some delayed getting married until they would enter the new earth. These decisions were made because of the promises given to them by the Watchtower. Most of the people who fully accepted this 'new truth' of the Watchtower's in 1935 are dead and will never have the opportunities that the Watchtower promised. The Watchtower's promises are a mirage to keep people working for the organization.

Yup... as much as people try to be pious... bottom line is that humans are very sexual creatures.

What do you think? Was it because taking away the carrot of having marriage and children in the new world was causing people to want to be married on this side of Armageddon and JW's were not giving enough of their time to work for the Society?

Haven't thought of this one in quite a while, but come to think of it I knew some who believed this.
There was one sister who hated having sex with her husband and couldn't wait until the new system when we wouldn't have sex anymore. Anyway, I didn't believe this to be true myself, but there were some strange viewpoints around this subject and it was one that was not spoken of too often. Like a lot of the other nonsense subjects I filed it in the back of my brain in the denial file cabinet

I don't think it is ours to know any absolute truth in this life. For anyone to say they know the absolute truth, whether they be Catholics, Baptists, JWs, Muslims or Eastern Religions, is for them to try to influence and manipulate your behavior.

We probably ought to enjoy all the sex we can in this life, if we like sex, because who really knows what is going to happen after we die.

One suspects that the reason for an organization to advocate postponing marriage and family is so that the individuals will have more time to devote to the organization. That is the main reason why catholic priests and nuns are not allowed to marry.

That the Watchtower is untrustworthy, is definately something I can wholeheartedly agree with you on. Their teachings about the future of marriage and sex, based on their interpretation of scirpture is yet another area they have used to manipulate and control the lives of millions. It exposes their arrogance and presumption to know what the great divine source has in store for mankind and their eternal future.

Unfortunately, it is my opinion that for you to say those with an inaccurate knowledge and acceptance of Christ are doomed eternally is not much different than the attitude displayed by the Watchtower, as far as I'm concerned. I appreciated this comment posted earlier by flyinghighnow:
