The big day is almost here. On Saturday we move my father to the retirement home. We have been moving small items all week, and Saturday we move the furniture. He is so excited. It is fun to see him looking forward to something again.

Today is a "tea" for the new residents and Mom insists we be there, including me. She had reservations at first, about his moving there (they have been divorced since 1969) and didn't want anyone there to know they had been married. I told her that would be a hard sell, since everyone there knows me, and that she is my mother and he is my father. I think they would figure it out. We were there yesterday for a sing along and cake, and she introduced him as her boyfriend. We are wondering if she is making sure none of the ladies there put their claim on him.

They get along very well, and I know she still loves him, and he would love to remarry her. Anything can happen. (they are 90 and 91)

    oh good grief!

*laughing @ your parents entertaining the idea of marrying again! Well, why not!*

Enjoy your freedom Mulan. I'm happy for your dad and happy for you. Now you can enjoy your "autumn" years.

    Hugs,

    Joy

Wow, 90 and 91! That's wonderful! I'm glad he's excited about the move! And congratulations on your newly-found privacy! Hmm, I predict fewer posts for a while as you rediscover each other, your house, the joys of leaving the door open, etc., etc.!

    Love,

    Nina

We will have privacy again for sure, but sometimes our house is like Grand Central Station. We have four kids, seven grandchildren, and all live nearby and are in and out all the time. I love that, though, and wouldn't change it for the world.

Not having Dad drop in for an "emergency" trip to the garbage can will be nice though. He would come upstairs at any time, just to take a milk carton to the big garbage, instead of putting it in the can under his sink. It was just to see what we were doing, or who was visiting at the time.

If he needed any help with anything, it didn't matter to him what Dave and I might be doing, he would just come upstairs, and look for us, knocking on closed doors too. The only thing he did that was even close to being a real problem, was when I was getting out of the shower one day, and he walked into the bathroom. He is blind, so even that wasn't a big deal, but unnerved me for a moment.

    I am excited too.

Would you believe no one has ever offered me any? I know people who smoke it and others who eat it in cookies. So far they aren't sharing.
