dubla,
if the u.s. teams destroyed them or if the iraqis didnt accurately provide the amounts, dont you think the chief weapons inspector, hans blix, wouldve had the insight to discover such obvious mistakes?
no, how could he possibly? hans blix came into the picture long after these things happened.
what is the other possibility? that hussein risked his life for useless WMDs? is that more likely?
Hey Dubla, even when I don't agree with you (most of the time...LOL) I like seeing you around. I'm busy too but, I can make time to see you and Realist argue.

no, how could he possibly? hans blix came into the picture long after these things happened.so, simply because he didnt take over those particular duties until 2000 means hes not qualified enough to double check translation errors? a man who from 1963 to 1976, was head of department at the ministry for foreign affairs and served as legal adviser on international law......who In 1976, became under-secretary of state at the ministry for foreign affairs, in charge of international development cooperation, and was appointed minister for foreign affairs in 1978.......who served as director general of the international atomic energy agency from 1981 to 1997? and youre going to claim that he was possibly just ignorant on the number of weapons that were destroyed in '92? come on, you can do better than that. what is the other possibility? that hussein risked his life for useless WMDs? is that more likely?well, as you know, i do believe saddam is insane, so anything is possible.....but whats more likely, imo, is that at some point in time between '95 and now, he still did have them, and had plans for many more. what he did with them is anyones guess.....if he could bury an entire airforce, im sure he could find a place in the ground for some chemical stockpiles....more likely than your "lost in translation" theory, imo, but again, who knows at this point. |
gtg for today....will check back though..........

dubla,
come on, you can do better than that.
you always say that!
thanks also for listing blix's achievements! but i am not talking about a translation error. i am talking about writing down the wrong numbers or not documenting at all.
i am quite sure hussein is not 'normal' but he is certainly interested in his survival. so the hiding WMDs for nothing theory makes no sense to me. (what again was his reason for risking his life over them?) what makes sense however is that the US wanted war and tried everything to come up with a reason for it. remember the whole IRAQ war II scenario was planned long time ago by our good friend Paul WOLFOWITZ.
Interesting comments about Ghadaffi and Libya.
If you step back and look at *who* has moved on this, it's clearly the west. Libya has oil that the west desparately needs which is perhaps the driver but Ghadaffi was the one telling the US that it was foolish arming Osama Bin laden because he was dangerous.
Finally, the USA has come round to Ghadaffi's viewpoint.
Finally, the USA has come round to Ghadaffi's viewpoint.
Absolute rubbish!
Ghadaffi has crapped himself after seeing what happened in Iraq and is anxious to dissassociate himself from any similarity with such regimes lest he too gets a taste of a similar medicine.
Englishman.
englishman,
sadly you have no clue about the timeline of these events. lybia was in negotiations about a lift of US sanctions long before the iraq war. Also UN sanctions were already lifted several years ago!
Realist,
Nations are always in negotiations with other nations about something or other. That does not negate the fact that Ghadaffi has scampered quickly to be almost obsequiously willing to please since the whole Iraq saga started.
But there again, I always did advocate flying over terrorist supporting countries with the bomb doors open..
Englishman.
englishman,
are you equally willing to bomb the big shots in the west who are responsible for way more death than all "terrorists" together?
about gadhafi...are you aware that UN sanctions were already lifted years ago and that it was only the US who viewed it as necessary to call gadhafi a threat?
