If you don't hear from me, it's because I'm a wet spot on the ground...

All I can really say is: OMG you HAVE to try it!!!!!

It is not like anything you might have imagined! When I walked up to the door of the airplane, I had absolutly NO fee of heights. We were so high up (about 13,500 feet) that one no longer has a sense of height. It was more like looking out into space with the earth far away.

When we jumped out I am proud to say that I did a great forward flip that impressed my instructor!!! It was TOTALLY unplanned... I actually did it by accident! When I jumped out of the plane I wanted to make sure I had plenty of forward momentum, so when I lunged forward I dipped my head down instead of up like I was supposed to... this dip in my head is what caused to flip to happen.

    Now the sensations....

THERE IS NEVER ANY SENCE OF FALLING. It is not like that "stomach in throat feeling" that you get with a rollercoaster. Instead you feel like you are just floating in the air... with a very powerful gust of wind holding you up. Yes, you are falling... but you don't feel that at all. All you really feel is the wind rushing up. Imagine if you were to jump up in he air and have the ability to fly around... and you do this by controling the wind to blow straight up under you to support you. That is what it feels like.

After about 60 seconds of free-fall we opened the parachute... that was not at ruff as I expected either. Yes, you do slow down really fast... but there was not the sudden jolt that I was expecting. Imagine hitting your breaks in your car so hard that you stop in about two or three seconds from highway speeds.

Oh, and here is the good news! My video turned out GREAT! There is a shop near where I work that converts VHS video to DVD, so I'm going to bring it by there and I'm also going to ask them if they can also make an AVI or MPEG for me.... if they can I will post the video for everyone to watch!

I also have a roll of film that needs to be developed... I'll do that today and then let you know how they turned out!

I'm telling you... you HAVE to try this!!!!!!!!!!

Great to hear you are still alive mate. I'm not afraid of heights... I'm afraid of impacts.

    Hi Elsewhere,

    Congratulations on your great experience!

I went para-sailing once and enjoyed it. You get up pretty high, but start out from the ground with the parachute opened.

    Cheers!

Good to know you made it back to earth in one piece. Now you can say that you have both feet planted firmly on the ground.

Flyin' but not as high as you were yesterday.
