A sister at our WT study today told of her encounter with an "apostate." One of her co-workers approached her upon seeing her with a copy of the Draw Close to Jehovah book and said that he had once been a Witness. In fact, he said, he had been an elder for many years and his wife had been a pioneer for many also.
Makes you wonder why those held up as examples (elders, pioneers) leave.
It is so sad that it is not "Satan" who discourages and weakens Witnesses today. It is the Organization, with its mantra that whatever we do is never enough, that is guilty of promoting the "lie that we are worthless in God's eyes." (paragraph 17) This idea that Jehovah is only provisionally satisfied with us, but unless we do more, more, more, all that we have done already is meaningless, worthless.
Tomorrow, we will gather to remember that Jesus died for us. But if we want to get into that new world, what Jesus did is not enough. We just have to keep on pushin' and work out our own salvation, Watchtower-style.

This repeats the WT scare tactic as if there was a vast organisation of the "Evil Slave" set up to act in a co ordinated way to oppose the WT .and further that Apostates have set up own churches to have followers after ourselves. In reality their is no truth to this lie. We are just individuals who have been hurt by the Borg and need help ourselves to cope sometimes. Where is this apostate leader who draws his own disciples? He does not exist.

Thank You Blondie. How pathetic and hatefull thier words are especially toward percieved apostates. They fit thier own description. It is they who "carry off " unsuspecting people from their families and tell tell them to consider them as their real family. I was told that. They thoroughly decieve people and are false teachers of deception.

I had this dreadful article last Monday night; I had almost forgotten the invective against those DIRTY, LYING APOSTATES.
Hmm.. wait. From the "apostates" here I learned about the UN membership that the WT had. I learned about the existence of hundreds, maybe thousands, of abused children whose abusers are still walking around the hall unpunished. I learned about the poor scholarship behind 607, the doctrinal flip flops about blood, organ transplant, homosexuality/bestiality as grounds for divorce; I learned that while African brothers were being murdered for their neutral stand, not wanting to buy a cheap (symbolic) party card, that the brothers in Mexico had perfected the art of buying phony military record cards.
It is not wonder that the WT hates them, and attacks them personally rather than discussing the issues that are raised: they have NO response to critics other than ad hominem attacks.

What irritates me plenty about this one is the continued insistence that we need to train our heart/conscience and that we can't trust our heart/conscience. HUH??
Then why bother reading this stuff? Why even discuss the freedom of Christians, when the WT would have the R and F be subject to even more regulation than the poor Jews? (Don't think that we have regs/rules?? The difference between loose conduct and gross immorality is the difference between the casual brushing or touching of the breasts or genitals; heavy petting and fondling, extended, is gross immorality. Whether or not climax is involved is not a deciding factor either, according to the flock book. This is different from porneia, which is the full out intercourse.)

Because at the same time we are told all of these nitpicking little rules and guidelines, we are reminded that we are NOT like the Pharisees of Jesus' day; no sir, we are free of that kind of rulemaking. And we are not under the burdensome Law either; (well, maybe we are: blood, bloodguilt, screaming during rape, unclean due to emissions [masturbation?], three large assemblies per year, just like the Jews; talking about "Jehovah's appointed" leads to a fate like Korah, Dathan and Abiram.........what have I missed?
The longer I am free mentally of the control of the WT, the more truly insane the "logic" and "reasoning" is to me.

I have been practicing for some time. My husband reminded me of the days we "studied" the WT together and how much he learned from my dissections even then. A few of my comments even made the KH WT study. No matter what we read or listen to, we should ask questions, analyze, compare. If our lives depend on it?.

How many JWs realize that the word "apostate" does not appear in hardly any other Bible translations and then only in the OT? Instead the word rebellion is used. Hmmmm?.

Actually, their cages have been and are being rattled. This is one of the strongest series of articles I have seen where apostates are mentioned and demonized. And it is not over yet, folks. More mentions of the evil apostates continues. I anticipate a special part on the DC this year as well. My hubbie and I were talking about this the other day. We figured it?s because they see the dark underside of the WTS more often, the part they try to hide. Imagine the next door neighbor coming and telling you that your spouse doesn?t love you and that you aren?t doing enough to earn their love. You?d think they were pretty butt in ski. Not the elders or the WTS, they tell you that God doesn?t love you because you don?t go to enough meetings, spending enough time hawking publications. The day is coming when Jesus will say "I never knew you."

I always used to toy with the idea of drafting the WTS Talmud. But then I realized what a momumental job it would be. Only 600 laws in the OT. I?m sure the WTS has passed that by now.
