how many of you ex-witnesses finally made the decision to leave the org BECAUSE of this discussion board?? Just curious how effective it has been in that regard.

I did not leave because of the forum ,i already knew it was wrong, but the forum help me to see how wrong.

I would say that this forum, H2O, BeyondJehovahsWitnesses.com and freeminds.org were a large part of making up my mind to leave. I had doubts almost as soon as I joined, but it still took me 11+ years to make the break. The last year (2000-2001) was spent in front of a computer screen reading these sites and essays by alanf, janh, norm, farkel, Maximus, metatron, and others. I would suggest newbies look up these JWD members/former members and read, read, read! It's positively enlightening, and, for those who left without the knowledge, heartening to realize your gut feeling was right all along!

Not me. I left the org when personal computers were still running DOS and no one had really heard of the internet.

Thanks! I was curious about that. I hope so very much that my family member SOMEDAY realizes what a sham the WTS org is. I've tried talking with him, sharing the WTS's flip-flop doctrines, false prophesies, etc. etc. It all seems to go in one ear and out the other. After reading alot of information, I guess I've come to realize that the person (JW) has to have some kind of negative personal experience in THEIR OWN LIFE brought on by the org. Such as being DF, or obverving a mistreatment of another, or a hypocrite elder.....the list goes on.
Do you know of ANYONE who has "seen the light" simply because someone told them the WTS is full of crap?

Nope.
I think we are all here trying to figure out how to crack the JW shell. They are hard nuts to crack.
