It has come as shock to Mrs Ozzie and I to find that we really knew very little of the Bible from the time we were Dubs. All that time we'd been under the mistaken view that the Dubs knew so much more than anyone who attended a church. Indeed often it was spoken from the platform that even if a new dub knew very little, it was still far more than anyone who went to church! How deluded we were!

It's true that there are many attending churches who are not christian, but for those that are, they know a great deal of Bible knowledge. Added to this is that in NSW at least, all ministers read their texts and prepare their sermons from the oldest Greek manuscripts available, not from modern English language translations. Each week I sit alongside a minister who has his Greek open on his lap (no, not an Interlinear!) whilst I only have my NIV.

What do dubs know about the Bible? Not much really. They know a lot about their proof texts (out of context) but they don't really 'know' their Bibles.

    Cheers, Ozzie

    i got 27/50

Its stuff like this that makes me realise what a load of crap the bible really is. The bible is nothing more than a book of excuses and evil.... it WAS originaly scriptures, but they have been distorted and twisted by evil people who wanted to have an excuse to commit heinious crimes. It is disgusting, and is it any wonder why ther is so much death and destruction caused by religious nuts. And if you think what I said isnt true, look at the Watchtower. EVEN NOW they alter the bible and change bits to fit their bullshit ways.

See why I have no idea what to believe. God is out there but he has no part in the bible or religions we know today.

I don't think the Bible even *needs* distorting and twisting to make excuses for evil acts - it's there in black and white: abuse women, kill your children, commit genocide and God will love you.

I am sure that it wasnt quite that bad originally..... in fact, im sure it was a LOT different and bloodthirsty oppressive leaders decided to change it to further their own agenda. They had to rape and abuse women cos any woman in their right mind would tell them where to go. They had to oppress children to show off their "power" and look "big" in front of people. Its human nature. I fully reject all of those evil writings, and if I am condemned for it, then so be it. Well... religion sucks. So do people. You only need to turn the news on to see that.....

I got 40/50 too. There are some rather trick questions, like the one about the Decalogue which hinges on whether the Decalogue is actually called the "ten commandments" in Exodus, and the one about the name of God, by which token Jesus would not be the name of the Christ in the Bible.
