Beware my friend of the "cause and effect" materialistic trap! Prayer works, but its' more like talking to your inner id. All the programing is in place for it to work. My limited experiance seems to indicate that we are pre-programed to evolve when in a frame of mind to "pray".

That was my point too, but you said it much more eloquently, Carmel.

My daughter in law's mother is a radical fundamentalist and was preaching to me about prayer one time. I told her my experiences with positive thinking and goal setting. Her reply? "Isn't it wonderful. Jesus has a way to answer your prayers, even if you don't believe in prayer?" I wanted to hurl.

    BrownBoy:
    Righteous dude, huh?

Would you say that your righteousness exceeds that of the pharisees, or doesn't?

    Little Toe,

Are you implying that I am a hypocrite? I am not accountable to you, so you will never know whether or not I will be found righteous or not. Jehovah alone will judge me.

BrownBoy:You miss my point. Sorry, I should have been clearer.
What I'm trying to say is that "righteousness" is not a marker as to our connection to the Divine.

The Pharisees were the most righteous of the bunch, but their prayers fell on deaf ears.

Hi I would like to share an experience with you

In 2000 my husband was dying with lung cancer and I chose to look after him at home

For six monthes there was no income coming in and we had to go on welfare

I had absolutely no money left and I prayed not for any specific thing but as to what I was going to do

The next day the bank phoned and said would you like a $15,000 dollar overdraft.

I listened to her on the phone in stunned disbelief. I never said anything about my situation only that I would come to the bank and sign the papers.

I got the money.a few days later my husband died, the landlord of my house came to visit and admired my fish tank he asked me if i wanted to trade it for a car, which I did

the next day i went looking for a job we lived in a small town with only a few stores The last store i went into was a furniture store. I told the man I was a widow and desperate for a job, he said we need a manager for this store you can start tomorrow.

To this day i wonder about that overdraft, did some unknown samaratin secretly cosign ?

I believe My heavenly father answered my prayers.

the JWS wouldnt do the funeral service because we were unworthy, his elder brother wouldnt help when we needed it and he never came to his brothers funeral.
