Dont worry about not knowing what to do, we just buy each other chocolate eggs. Incidentally, some students of HL's thought that easter eggs were used at Easter because the Jews threw eggs at Jesus while he was on the cross.

Easter is pretty scaled down at my house flower....we paint a few eggs...hide some candy & money in those plastic eggs and hide them for my daugher and niece...get them easter baskets...and have a ham dinner...that's pretty much it.
This year my ex had our daughter so she ended up spending the holiday with him and his sisters boyfriends family which was nice for her (it's a pretty big gathering)....I just chilled at home for awhile and then let her hunt for some stuff when she got home and gave her the basket.
I think the inital premise of Easter had to do with Jesus resurection.....but we just like the bunnys and chocolate personally
BTW thank you for the nice comments about my daughter, I'm kinda fond of her myself
