I know you guys are the experts so I have a question. What is a good reasonably priced bottle of red from Australia? I prefer very dry Cabernet's. I have tried the French, Italian & Napa Valley with likes and dislikes in all of the regions but have never been brave enough to try any from down under as everyone around here seems to know nothing about them. Can anyone help me out??? (silly question ;>)

Try a Jacob's Creek. It's not my fave but it's safe!

You should try Chilean. I think their reds are generally better than Australia's. Aussie whites are better.
Los Vascos is usually pretty reliable and very reasonably priced.

I am not a wine expert but I do drink a lot -- I love Californian especially Napa Valley -- but I have never yet had a bad bottle of Australian wine -- improving constantly and their Cabernets are IMHO better than French wines

I am an aussie, and I love the wines here, red or white. price is a good guide, but they're all good. I'm not sure what brands are available in the USA. "Brown Brothers" is a good brand, "Taylors" is another good brand. "Penfolds". None are bad, so I'm sure none will disappoint. I've treid the french & italian wines (i'm Italian too ) and i wasn't impressed, I like the full flavored dry Cab Sav, and the ones here are great.
