The Times They Are A Changing - more active witnesses are posting

Is it me, or is there a 'quiet revolution' going on? Maybe 'revolution' is not the correct word. I just went on E-Watchman's site and looked on the Guest Page. A lot of people there are active witnesses, who are 'examining their beliefs' in accordance with E-Watchman's works. But, his site is not the only one where a lot of active dubs post.

JW.com is probably the most popular JW forum in the world - there are a lot of active dubs posting (and lurking) here.

I am one of them, but there seems to be a surge of interest into the doings and sayings of what the Society would call 'opposers.'

When I go to the District Convention, I sometimes stop and think..I look..at all the brothers and sisters walking/running down the corridors and think to myself, "Are there any here that go on xJW sites? Do they listen extra intently to the program to post us the latest? Do they cringe in embarrasement when they hear the Society lie on matters such as child abuse?"

Consider this posting on E-Watchman's site a few days ago...

Wanted to share my feelings callous elders and congregations. I have been in different congregations. My experience in some has not always been pleasant. I was appointed an elder at the age of 26 so when I was asked to move to other congs sometimes I was not received so well by the older elders. Some viewed me as just a child so whatever I had to say was disregarded. But in my most recent assignment the experience has been opposite. This cong is right next door to the one I was in & the difference in attitude and the spirit of the congregation is like night and day. I was starting to get discouraged as an elder. There I was not consulted on even the smallest of a matter. But now it is the opposite in my newest assignment although I am still the youngest elder on the body at age 32 I am respected and my input is highly regarded by the others. This is the way it should be. Since I have moved there 2 years ago I have seen the congregation increase from 54 publishers to over 100! This in a small town of less than 7,000 with the county population being around 13,000. To me this is how a congregation should be. That is not how the majority seem to be anymore. The other cong. territory has a population of nearly 30,000 and only 52 publishers. Tell me what is wrong with that picture? I'll let him be the judge. Elder don't let your position go to your head. Remember you are just a slave and no better than any publisher in the congregation. Be fair and understanding, not dogmatic and unreasonable.

Aside from his interesting observations, don't you see how major something like this is? When an active elder posts on a forum, we accept it and move on. This has become commonplace. But, it's so big a deal. Why?

A few years ago, I could never have comprehended and active witnesses going on xJW sites, much less Elders, CO's and DO's. Things have really changed in the last few years.

Bottom line? what I am trying to say, is that active witnesses are feeling more comfortable about visiting and joining discussions on JW sites, even arguing with 'professed' apostates.

This change in the JW's programming is similar to the android Data when he first received his emotion chip.

The Society must know this, their trained and trusted elders are going behind their backs, and for good reason, to post on boards like this.

Watchtower - you can run, but you can't hide.

I think you're right, truthseeker (love your avatar, btw! ). Those of us who have been around the boards for a couple of years tend to have a "so what?" attitude about whether or not elders are posting. But it IS a big deal! Especially when they are presently elders! I was astonished when I first frequented this sight to know that there were people "high up" who also had grave doubts. Seems like more and more are realizing that WT dogma just doesn't add up.

Thanks for reminding us of how important it is that witnesses at all levels in the organization are willing to disobey the 'tower's interdiction against surfing the internet and visiting possibly 'apostate' sites.

    Come gather 'round people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
    If your time to you
    Is worth savin'
    Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'

    Sink Like A Stone, Watchtower!!

I first posted on an ex jw site when I was still an elder, it was not this site, but the very fact that I looked at those sites, not to mention posted on them was indicitive of my dis-satisfaction.

I am now myself an Ex-JW, and would nevr consider going back.

    I love this:

I am respected and my input is highly regarded by the others. This is the way it should be.

They bow and scrape when I enter the room. This is the way it should be.

Grown men weep with fear in my presence. This is the way it should be.

I am called "Le Roi du Monde." This is the way it should be.

My superhuman talents have finally been recognized. This is the way it should be.

"Dick" is my job title, not my name. This is the way it should be.

Humility is for the publishers. This is the way it is.

Excellent post - Of course the Dubs would say this is just bible prophecy - time of the end type of stuff. But yes, I noticed many new posters in this 'time of the end'.

People are more enlighten as time goes on - I think soon the BORG will mostly (if not already) be made up of older folks, who have no where else to go. Younger folks just ain't buying the BORG's stuff. Hell, the BORG doesn't even try thier best to retain the younger talent and prospects. However, the BORG does serve a purpose, many folks would be lost w/o them (what else is new).

Yes, times are changing, but not only for the BORG - for religion as a whole.

    Peace - LL

yep, i'm another one of them. before i would have never thought to even LOOK on the internet for JW stuff (besides www.jwmedia.org). now i walk in the KH, CO, or DO and i just look into a person's eyes and wonder what they are thinking, if they read, or even if they post. sometimes i ask what they're thinking, sometimes i just guess. iono.........

Quote: "I was appointed an elder at the age of 26 ... although I am still the youngest elder on the body at age 32 I am respected and my input is highly regarded by the others. This is the way it should be."

Fascinating look at the mind set of these guys, who see no disconnect between the term "elder" and their youth and inexperience. Rather like those teenage Mormons who come to the door wearing "Elder so-and-so" name tags. Laughable, and one more way you know it's not "the truth."

The bible's instructions were to "appoint older men from among yourselves," followed by qualifications that bespoke maturity and length of years. I served with some of these "wonder boys" and in every case their immaturity and cockiness eventually cost somebody, somewhere, something.

As Randy Watters predicted a few years ago -- the internet really is going to be the catalyst for change -- you just can not control the free flow of information -- it was interestingly the invention of the printing press in the middle ages that forced change on the Roman Catholic Church- yes -The Times They Are A Changing - more active witnesses are posting -- including active elders etc -- we liv ein interesting times folks
