A street kid gets arrested, gonna do some time
He got out three years from now
    just to commit more crime

A businessman is caught with twenty four kilos
He's out on bail, and out of jail,
and that's the way it goes

P.S. They took the TWEEZERS from my makeup bag at the airport. In the past 2 years of traveling I've been pulled aside at the airports security 6 times. Maybe I'm just suspicious looking, but I dont care. Nothing to hide. I prefer they be EXTRA cautious than not.

Well what about the tossers that just try bringing stuff on to planes to prove a point? Hoses people's travel plans and points out flaws in security. Personally I'm not sure which is worse, but do we jail them or give em a free ride on the airline they possibly could have jacked? AND what about the kid who put himself in a box and shipped himself home? Just very recently! Could have been a terrorist and no one would know. Should we throw him in the clink indefinitely..maybe even Guantanamo? Or give him a scholarship and send him on his way? I say just give the moron a big fat fine and maybe he'll think better of it next time.

    Sincerely,

:> It hardly needs to be explained that putting ammunition in one's jacket is not in the same class as grabbing the wrong travel kit, or fogetting about a tiny knife on a keychain.

    Zilch.

:> Someone who puts ammunition in his jacket knows exactly what he's doing, and has it there for a reason.

    Not there either.

:> No way something like that is accidental.

    Nor there.

:> Furthermore, the guy almost certainly pulled some kind of shenanigans to get the ammunition through the checkpoint.

    Nada.

OK my little butt buddy. Bend over.

Those lines that you wrote originally definitely indicate that you feel that no matter what, the person with said ammunition knew exactly what he were doing.... now what things take place on a plane when someone is armed with ammunition? The only thing I can think of is a hijacking. Now if you wish to flog a dead horse go ahead... cause quite frankly my dear I dont give a damn. This thread means nothing to me, and judging by the size of your last post... either it means a lot to you, or have have "size issues".

Now kindly remove your head from your rectal cavity and go find someone who cares as much as yourself... and you can live happily ever after writing essay after essay to each other explaining why each is wrong.

lmao... I cant believe how serious some people take a post... This is a forum.... I will (hopefully) never meet you, so why do you give a damn?? rofl...

Come on... gimme some more material... I am thinking of writing a whole stand up comedy sketch on morons who get upset when someone disagrees with them.

anyone who expects a blue collar worker, executive or even a unknown comic to be treated with the same optimism and courtesy as a congressman is delusional

oh right the congressman was planning to hijack the plane on his way to work. And alan thought that.

He probably thought he would get special privlidges all the way home because he is a congressman.

By your logic I should have been jailed. Your logic leaves no room for human error. Understanding of human error -- that's why the congressman was released after being questioned. It's obvious that the officials in charge of screening have some common sense. What would you have them do?
Jail everyone who makes an honest mistake?

Trying to get around the system is a whole different matter.

You provided few details about the guy who arrived in the UK with ammunition in his jacket. It hardly needs to be explained that putting ammunition in one's jacket is not in the same class as grabbing the wrong travel kit, or fogetting about a tiny knife on a keychain. Someone who puts ammunition in his jacket knows exactly what he's doing, and has it there for a reason. No way something like that is accidental. Furthermore, the guy almost certainly pulled some kind of shenanigans to get the ammunition through the checkpoint. Nothing bigger than a miniature Swiss Army Knife could possibly get through the sensitive checkpoint metal detectors.~~ AlanF

You know, FMZ, AlanF never said a word about terrorists and ammo being synonymous. You assumed that is what he meant IMO. Perhaps going back and reading where he said:

Trying to get around the system is a whole different matter.~~AlanF

He then went onto explain that putting ammo in your jacket prior to a flight is quite different than picking up a briefcase you forget you had a loaded weapon in. Now maybe your point is, perhaps the man forget he had ammo in his pocket and tried to board the plane? That was his claim.

I agree, it could happen, especially considering the fact he was traveling to his father?s funeral. Yet some of the bullets had been modified for some reason and he claimed he was given the jacket with the ammo in it. I know if someone gave me a jacket I would check to assure there were no belonging left in it from the previous owner.

Ironically enough the man is/was an airport security officer. All the circumstances, could, I suppose be blamed on grief, to me it sounds strange. And the congressman IMO was extraordinarily neglectful and foolish. Again, UK law and US law are two different animals. Part of Alan?s point. He is asking that it not be sensationalized as others do like the girl with drugs in school and the political spin but on many situations.

I do have to say that the ruling was IMO too harsh, but part of the opinion here should be said to the congressman:

He told Alwasila a prison sentence was "essential as a punishment to you and as a deterrent to others who may carelessly or recklessly carry firearms or ammunition on an aircraft".

    Einstein said:

: Those lines that you wrote originally definitely indicate that you feel that no matter what, the person with said ammunition knew exactly what he were doing....

Correct. Note that I said he knew what he was doing. I didn't say that I knew what he was doing.

This is your problem, Einstein: You read something, and extreme subtleties like distinguishing between "he" and "I" go over your head.

Besides, the phrase is "what he was doing" not "what he were doing." Are you a native speaker of Norwegian?

: now what things take place on a plane when someone is armed with ammunition?

Anything from nothing (as apparently in this case) to blowing up the plane. Use your imagination, Einstein.

: The only thing I can think of is a hijacking.

A good use of that imagination! So this guy hijacked the plane. Apparently the passengers and crew missed it.

: Now if you wish to flog a dead horse go ahead...

Nah, it's more fun flogging ignorant and arrogant Einstein wannabes.

: cause quite frankly my dear I dont give a damn.

Oh? Then why did you post a response, Einstein?

: This thread means nothing to me,

    I can see that.

: and judging by the size of your last post... either it means a lot to you, or have have "size issues".

Actually I just happened to have some extra time on my hands and decided to have a little fun.

: Now kindly remove your head from your rectal cavity and go find someone who cares as much as yourself...

    Like you?

: and you can live happily ever after writing essay after essay to each other explaining why each is wrong.

Fair enough. It can be entertaining when the right opponent drops in your lap.

: lmao... I cant believe how serious some people take a post...

You think I take our little tete a tete seriously?

: This is a forum.... I will (hopefully) never meet you, so why do you give a damn?? rofl...

I don't, really, but I need to get some jollies before I start some real intense mental activity in a little while.

: Come on... gimme some more material... I am thinking of writing a whole stand up comedy sketch on morons who get upset when someone disagrees with them.

I think you should use this thread as starting material. Self-parody is among the best forms of humor.

I tend to agree with AlanF when it comes to Simon's comments. I don't know if the guy really hates anything 'American", although I highly doubt that's the case, but it does tend to offend me personally. I didn't get that idea from this thread in particular, but other threads I've found myself highly offended, so I left them alone.

But so what. It's Simon's site, he can appear to hate whatever he wants.

As for the moron with the gun, he should receive the same punishment that I would if I were in his shoes. Do I think it's possible he made a mistake? Yep. But you know what? Not even a week ago I was arrested for driving without a license. Let mine expire and now I'll pay the price with a big fat fine, much larger than this guy will receive (none). It was a mistake on my part but one I shouldn't have made. So, like a man I'll take what I deserve. He should do the same.
