In order to avoid misunderstandings, Jehovah?s Witnesses try to be careful about how they express themselves. Instead of saying, "the Society teaches," many Witnesses prefer to use such expressions as, "the Bible says" or, "I understand the Bible to teach." In this way they emphasize the personal decision that each Witness has made in accepting Bible teachings and also avoid giving the false impression that Witnesses are somehow bound to the dictates of some religious sect.

The fact is they always say what does the publications say on this matter or what is the direction from the FDS.

Ya know the FDS, 144000 who direct all things...ok so it's actually just 8-10 out of the 144000 who direct things...how did they become spokeman for the 135,500...well it was a well fought race and the voting was close but but they left it in Jehovahs hands and when he didn't give a rats ass they consulted a spirit mediums named Rutherford and Franz...Aye carumba

A couple of months ago I was on my way to work, and in the elevator were two women - apparently going to visit someone they knew who was a patient in the hospital. They seemed totally oblivious to my presence there, and continued talking as though I was invisible. That was my first clue that they were JWs - carrying on a conversation in an elevator where someone else could hear them. Don't people usually clam up in elevators?

Anyway, they must have been desperate to start their Service Time?. All of a sudden they started chatting about the wonderful points at the last meeting: to each other!! Hey, I was a captive audience for at least two whole minutes!! They even used the words "Theocratic" and "Spirituality". In separate sentences even.

I had the last laugh though. As I got out of the elevator on my floor, I said "You can't count your time with me. I've been told that I'm an Apostate!" The shocked look on their faces and the gasps of horror were priceless.

    Love, Scully

Great story V. I wonder if I know those dubs??? Scary stuff though. Worrying about dying at armaggedon 'cuz you had your car washed at a church fundraiser. Sad. I love how you wrote their convo. I could hear the "hiiiiiiiiii and how are youuuuu" Good stuff.

Scully, that is hilarious. I was thinking they might have to actually make up the time they were "witnessing" since it was to an apostate. Doesn't that make their time go into the negative?

Yes I think those that feel they are really "spiritual" can sound humurous at times. JW and holy rollers of other religions can also sound very boastful at times. As in "I have Jesus and others who don't have Jesus are not living right and I know what's best for everyone else in the world." That general attitude of I have the correct answer for everything and its better than anyone else's answer can be at times annoying and at times humurous.

I would have gotton all red in the face and come up with some lame excuse to leave. I hope someday I am not freaked out. I am just now starting to be able to have conversations with my mother letting her know that I really don't agree. It still makes me ill!
