I was shopping at Wally World today, still in uniform from having taken my daughter to her therapy session. I was at the jewlry counter staring at gift ideas for my 9th anniversary (nine years today). As I was looking at things a woman came up beside me, touched my shoulder, and said "Thank You for serving our country!" and with that tried to hand me a twenty dollar bill. I tried to refuse several time assuring her that I could accept it and that I was well paid, and besides, she pays my salary anyhow. She would have none of it and left me standing with the sawbuck. I hollered thanks and that it would go in the church collection...she said fine...or buy something for your wife. Nice lady. I felt REALLY weird being left there holding the twenty. I'll be dropping an extra $20. in the poor box at church this week.

In a way I guess it could be pay back for the $20 I gave a transient guy the other week.

It's nice to be appreciated for what I do...I've had people buy my dinner before...or a drink...but it really felt wierd being left with the money. THANK YOU NICE LADY!

    How sweet!

I was in the navy for 5 years and i was ridiculed for alot of the time, maybe because I was a female in a mans world, who knows.

This Sunday is ANZAC Day though for us Aussies so am really looking forward to doing my bit for my country and thanking all the men and women everywhere that stood their ground and defended us when we needed defending.

Well done all servicemen and women everywhere! Keep on keeping the peace!

    Nat xx

Happy Anniversary Mr and Mrs. Yeru!!!

Thats such a sweet story also. My kids bus driver's son left to Iraq last year, and was so upset that all the yellow ribbon in town was sold out..I went to a neighboring town and made her a big yellow bow out of quilting edging (sure enough, no ribbon proper).

The next morning when she pulled up, we gave her a big yellow bow for her door, and she burst into tears! She was sooo happy.

let me get this straight... you have to get into uniform to pick up your daughter?? What kind of service is that to the country? I went to the babe Ruth ball game tonight, didn't get into a uniform to do it, but surely must have earned some "served my country" chits....

    Hi Yeru,

I did not realize that your are still in the military. What branch are you in, and can you talk a little about what you do? Thanks. - Jim W.
