I was shopping at Wally World today, still in uniform from having taken my daughter to her therapy session. I was at the jewlry counter staring at gift ideas for my 9th anniversary (nine years today). As I was looking at things a woman came up beside me, touched my shoulder, and said "Thank You for serving our country!" and with that tried to hand me a twenty dollar bill. I tried to refuse several time assuring her that I could accept it and that I was well paid, and besides, she pays my salary anyhow. She would have none of it and left me standing with the sawbuck. I hollered thanks and that it would go in the church collection...she said fine...or buy something for your wife. Nice lady. I felt REALLY weird being left there holding the twenty. I'll be dropping an extra $20. in the poor box at church this week.
In a way I guess it could be pay back for the $20 I gave a transient guy the other week.
It's nice to be appreciated for what I do...I've had people buy my dinner before...or a drink...but it really felt wierd being left with the money. THANK YOU NICE LADY!
